My Xbox360 is different (gun metal gray)

I bought it about 2 or 3 years ago (1 year after the 360 came out I think). What makes mine different than my friends' models is that they have a dull gray hard drive while mine is like a gun metal gray and it is shiny. It almost has a bluish tint. Same with my controller. The bottom part where you plug in the mic/headphones is the same gun metal gray color while all my friends have a dull 'normal' gray. Anyone know why this is?
 
They changed it at some point, the shiny has more of a slippery texture while the flat gray has a rougher texture right?

bought a new case....that's it really....the pic doesn't show the lights though. I also have a custom Whisper fan with Blue LEDs so it shines in the dark.
 
Here is a picture. I didn't alter my 360 in anyway. This is straight out the box.

And yes I own all the Scrubs DVDs.

It's a launch system , MS quit painting them to save money .

My 120 GB is gray so now it matches my refurb , so I am happy it matches .
 
If I knew that the HD's were painted different, I would've kept it. Damn. I did keep my wireless controller with the shiny bottom, though.
 
ahh, its weird that I got a launch box a year after the 360 was released. Must have just been lying around somewhere. Thanks for answering my question.
