Hi, I'm looking for the names of any of those places where you pay a flat fee per month and they mail you different games that you keep as long as you like and send them back in to get a different one.

I don't know exactly what the name is of this type of business or I'd just google for them. I'm guessing tis something like netflix but for games.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and which are the good ones to use?

Thanks.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. :D

Though after reading most of the site, it doesn't sound so enticing anymore. Having to put 10 games in a queue seems like a sign that I'll have a slim chance of being able to rent popular new releases. And there's the issue of scratched discs with them passing so many hands.

Hmm..

I used GameAccess for about 4 months. At one point I had Resident Evil 5 in my queue reserved at #1, it said they had stock and after a week it still wasn't sent out. I cancelled after that. For the cost of 2 games out at a time you're better off getting that membership from BBV that gives you unlimited rentals.

Canflix also rent games. I haven't used them for a couple years. They had a decent 360 selection but back then their PS3 catalog was tiny. You also had to use same queue for games as movies which I didn't like.

I have found that buying and goozexing games works best, though turnover is slower and a little more work.

My friends who used gameacccess have never had a problem getting games.

Gameaccess has a service where you can reserve a game, and they'll send it to you when it's available. It's not the greatest system though... Mass Effect 2 currently has 18 reservations, which means I'd have to wait until 18 other people get the game before they send one out to me. Most older games will have 0 reservations though.

I'm with snowsquirrel.
For the past 6-8 months I have been keeping my eyes out on good deals and Goozex alot of them. As of right now I have way too many games in my possession that I need to play and not enough time to play them.
I got Borderlands from Goozex for 1000 points, got my platinum, and am sending it out now for 1000 points. Its a pretty good rental system as all you pay is the $2 shipping once. Of course it is a bit slower but my backlog is huge enough as is that I can afford to wait for some games.

I stopped renting from BBV when they started charging late fees again. Now I'll just buy a new game off craigslist/kijiji for $45-55 and resell it for $40-50 when I'm done with it. It's basically renting brand new titles for $5-15 and having no time limit on them.

The really good games I keep.

Yeah, I've really gotten great use out of Goozex over the past year. If you interested in backfilling your collection with older titles then the prices can't be beat... and trading newer titles works pretty well too once you know what's happening. But there are two caveats.

(1) You have to be patient, because sometimes the wait can be quite long - especially when you first start out.

(2) You have to learn how to work with the system correctly. For example, put games in your request/trade queues ASAP and then leave them on hold until you are ready - that way you keep your place in line and can trade or request games much quicker.

As long as you do due dilligence and always live up to your promises, it's a sweet system.

I have been using GameAccess for the last 7 months. If you want new releases fast they are not the way to go. I use it as a supplement to the games I buy, renting the ones I missed or that I just want to give a try. I have not had any problems with scratched discs. The mail lag can be a problem, if you want this as your main game supply get a two game membership. Prepaid for six months is less than $20 per month. If you coordinate it right you always have a game to play.

As for renting from BBv when I checked it was 29.99 a month almost double GA. My blockbuster rarely has new release games available to rent, they are all out and they wouldnt put me in a queue. I have a better chance of getting it through Gameaccess. Now if your BBV doesnt suck it could work but at 29.99 it is $10 a month more.

Hope this helps, good luck.

How can you guys not have such a giant backlog of games that you never play that you even have time to think about this? Heck, I should be playing games instead of even LOOKING at a browser! ^ ^

Erm, guys?

Blockbuster's "Rent As Many Games As You Want" card is there, it's like $24.99/month?

Of course Gameaccess.ca (I've used their service for a few months waaaaay back) and stuff charge a measly $10 but you're waiting a while for new releases and again shipping problems and scratched discs. I had a shipping problem, they charged me fucking through the ass for Grim Grimoire [about $69.99 or something?] they told me I should have used insured shipping, but I was using THEIR envelope! They told me too bad and sent my account to a collection agency when I told them to suck my ass.

With the BBV card you can rent as many as you want (even bad shit just for laughs) and no late fees I don't think with that card. Also if it's scratched, well it's ok since they can just resurface it on-site. Also if it's out of stock, there's lots of BBVs around if you want a copy of ME2 to play (someone told me you could only use the card at one location, so correct me if I'm wrong folks).

In person stuff is a lot easier for me really, less of a pain in the ass. Sure it may be an extra few bucks a month but just the save the headaches would do wonders.

I tried BBV's game rental plan for a month, and it was pretty good. And yes, there are some restrictions on it -- you can only rent games (no movies), and only from the specific location where you paid for the plan.

It is not something that I would pay for month to month, but every once in a while I would activate it so I can play a bunch of games, then cancel it before the next payment period.

I've been using Gameaccess for at least over a year, and if you have the reserve a game feature you can definitely get the new games, but you just have to be prepared to check their list of games every other day for when they post that new game you want. Using this system I have had no trouble getting the games that I want. This includes Modern Warfare 2, Mass Effect 2 (currently enroute), Halo ODST and others. That said if everyone started doing this it would make things more difficult...

Something similar happened to me, where Canada Post lost one of my games. They charged me $70 for the cost of the game, but I got a credit of $70 towards my account membership (which worked out to 3 months or something with the plan I had). So it's a pain in the ass when it happens, but it seems like they're a lot better with it now.

I might check out BBV's rental plan.
Do you need a credit card for it or can I just pay cash upfront for a month or two ?

Sounds like a real pain in the ass.

I believe you need a credit card to have an account with them to begin with (to rent movies and such).

I was interested til I heard this part. They have no insurance on the shipping they provide you with?

Not that I'm aware of. I should say that I've shipped close to 50 games back to them, and I only had that one problem. It sucks that you have to cover the cost of the game, but it's pretty much like paying in advance for your membership... They actually gave me an extra month free because of the mix-up.
