According to IGN, Nintendo will be having a press conference in Japan and another in Europe bookending the presentation in America on September 14th.

Presumably we will still learn the firm US launch date and price on the 14th, but the bundle contents and launch titles will probably match whatever is announced for Japan.

EDIT: I've since been corrected that the Japan PR event is also on the 14th. The IGN article said Wednesday which promted me to create this thread. Depending on the time of that event it could still be Wednesday here, but a correction was warranted.

I had intended this thread to be used for the Japan and Europe conferences, but the mods can close this thread if they think its a bad duplicate.

Well the Japan and Europe events were news to me.

Also, these threads tend to become piggybacked with CAGer commentary post event, so it isnt unusual to create them in advance (there has been a September 14th thread since the day after the German conference).

Yeah this isn't news. The press things were supposed to be around the same time but then it came out that the USA and Japan will be the 14th and then Europe the 15th. Now we have the 13th?

I'm pretty sure they were always staggered just a little bit. I figure they'll release generally the same info with region-specific information tacked on.

Nevermind, it was Japan and US on the 14th originally...

Though isn't Japan almost a day ahead of us, timewise? I've never really delved into the quantum possibilities of that - i.e. right now it is Wednesday, September 13th in Japan. So maybe it's September 13th US time, September 14th Japan time?

Japan's event starts at 8pm tomorrow for east coast people. That is where the 9/13 date is coming from.

From IGN:

September 11, 2006 - If you call yourself a Nintendo fan, there's a good chance that you're already well aware of and anticipating this week's events. Later this week, Nintendo of Japan, America and Europe will hold three separate, but related shows, all of them focused on the company's upcoming Wii console. For Nintendo fans, this week has the potential to be as big as the Electronic Entertainment Expo for news and game showings. In fact, by the end of the week we're expecting to know Wii's release date and price across the globe - and that's just for starters.
IGN has editors attending all three events and we've been giving ample hype to each showing. Now, though, Nintendo of Europe has officially built up its London-based Wii shindig, which kicks off overseas this Friday. On its official website, Nintendo of Europe posted the following message, which we've quoted verbatim:On Friday, September 15, Nintendo will host a huge invite-only event in London. The subject: Wii. Hundreds of invitations have been sent out to European press, to join us on this momentous occasion. While that unfortunately means the general public isn't able to attend, it doesn't mean you have to miss out on the biggest Nintendo news of the year.

On Friday we'll have full coverage of the Wii event right here, so you can find out the official word straight from the source as soon as it's made public.
What's it all about? Well, you'll just have to wait and see. But as the text on the invitation card teasingly states:
All of you will be excited, intrigued and interested in what we have to show you.
This is an event you must not miss. Wii promise.

Nintendo itself bolded the last two lines, not us. The bolded font means it's important, we think.
The events begin this Wednesday with Nintendo of Japan's showing, which is likely to reveal everything about Wii, thus spoiling any surprises that may have been saved for the American and European shows. And you know, we don't even care so long as we finally get a firm price and release date
