It was only $30 Paypal, so it's not too big a deal. However, I've never let anyone get away with ripping me off, and I'm kinda kicking myself in the head for agreeing to pay first when the guy lives in Canada. He said he needed the Paypal to pay for an auction. He had 5 feedback, and I only had a few myself (on TGN), so I didn't mind too much. He never claimed that he had sent. He told me over and over that he just hadn't had the chance to send it, but that he had the package ready to go. I called his house once after about a month and a half (I'm usually pretty patient), told him he needed to send it out immediately, and then just plain forgot about it for a couple of months. Paypal will not do anything because it was a non-eBay transaction and I didn't want to pay a fee for their "satisfaction guarantee" fraud program.
It's 2am here right now, and probably later where he's at (I confess I'm not very familiar with Candian geography), and I'm wondering whether it's a good idea to call his house and wake up his parents.
Just so nobody makes the mistake of trading with this guy, his username is
Soulacide. Also, I don't know if TGN has anything other than feedback to report someone ripping you off, but if they do please let me know. I don't think he'll be back, though. He hasn't been on since early December, I think.
As for trading with Canadians, I'm usually pretty trusting, and since I usually do most of my trades here or on GTZ (both places where I have lots of feedback), I can ask the other party to ship first if they aren't well-established.
