Need...help...addicted to...KotOR...</shatner>

lol i feel the same way i had it for a month now and almost beat it but i definitly have to go back and play it as an evil Sith MOOHHAAAA moHHAAA lol

I was addicted, but then ended up playing some other games and forgot what the hell I was doing. I haven't been able to continue from there and haven't played it since, even though I tell myself I should all the time.

yeah, the best bet is to get far into another game to where you forget about this game(which would make you have to start this game over and waste another 18 hrs away) or to just keep playing until you beat the game.

It's kinda wierd what happened to me with this game. I was digging it for like a week, then I played another game, and forgot about it. I don't know what happened. I like the game, I knew it was a good RPG, it was just too hard to pick it up and start playing again. It's strange cuz that's happened to me on about %90 of the RPGs I've bought and rented.
Death glitch?
That was an awkward of phrasing, I really should have said game stopping.

There are certain situations (I believe if leave Mission in sleath mode and she's required to talk during a cut scene for example) that cause the game to stop dead in its track and the save becomes corrupted.

I once was traveling from Lower city to the apartments and the game never loaded. The screen turned black. I restarted the game and the save wouldn't load. Another one was corrupted by the new content.

There are alot of funky glitches through-out it. Not trying to discourage, I played through it on three different occasions with no problems but these problems do exsist.

Hmmm...thanks. I keep several "roll back" save files, usually an hour or two apart so if I screw something up, I can usually recover without too much work.

Update: I put several more hours on it tonight, embarassingly. I just finished up Tatooine and I'm headed to Manaan. This game is so stinkin' huge and I'm totally addicted...playing it dark...but I can't see myself playing it all the way through again anytime in the near future.

The game felt like it took longer through the Light side. The dark side has an insane amount of advantages minus the whole evil thing.

And Manaan is great. It was my favorite planet.

I beat it in 38 hours over 4 days last summer. There wasnt a waking hour I wasnt playing or thinking about it. WSB, I think your normal.

has anyone run into the problem of not being able to access the new downloadable planet cause...

slight spoiler...

they saved on the star forge and cannot get back to the ebon hawk?

end spoiler.
this makes me sad

this makes me sad
Yes and no, I had a second game that was part way through the game so I was able to visit but I wanted to visit with my better file to have the money to buy any of the expensive items. WHile all I saw was the shop itself, it didnt seem like I was missing out on much.

same thing here.

I'm kinda sad... I beat the game in two rental periods... of course I was parked in front of that game as much as my life would allow... aka 5 hours of sleep... 7.5 hours of work... dreaming in Kotor

But now that I've beaten it, I don't have any enthusiasm to buy it... I had alittle bit of time before it had to go back, so I loaded a previous save game and started to go dark side... that was fun, but not enough to play again...
Oh well I guess I can always load my saved game of Morrowind and try to finally finish that.

But of all the RPGs I've seen, KOTOR does the best job of reminding you what you should be doing. They've got that long conversation log and all of the active quests/completed quests stuff.

Anyone run into the Ermac-esque Ebon Hawk sequence? My game screwed up a couple of times, usually on Korriban, and I would get a weird scene where all the characters were standing in the main room on the Hawk, there was a swoop in one of the rooms along with a droid that seemed to indicate you could use the swoop to go anywhere on the planet, and another droid in the cockpit who would move you instantly to any planet.

I know I saw some other folks ran into that on GameFAQs board way back when KOTOR first came out, did they ever figure out what the hell was going on?

Yep, it's called the Galaxy Droid glitch...I ran into it on a return trip to Tatooine...it's a remainder from a programmer tool that allowed them to planet hop. I don't remember exactly how I triggered it, but from what I understand it's not all that uncommon. I think there's something about it in the Bug/Glitch FAQ on GameFAQs, as well as BioWare's forums.

Personally I rolled my saves among however many you can see on one screen (6 or 7 I think) each time I saved I just moved down one slot and when I got to the bottom I would go back up to the top save slot again. That's my general system for any game though.

I played through it over the course of a month+. I'd play it for at least an hour or so most days. One thing I liked a lot about the game was the ability to save whenever you want. Means I could play it for just 15 minutes even and still feel like I made some progress.

Yeah, I kept 3-6 roll back saves at all times too...and thank goodness. I was playing dark side and I had to roll back on Manaan and play nice, as well as near the end of the game, in order to avoid some disasterous consequences.

My finish time, first play through, dark side male soldier, was almost 51 hours. Growing up on Atari and NES, I've never been a fan of lengthy games, but this one really kept me engaged from beginning to end.

I started a new game of KotOR, going to play light side female scout, but I'm taking it at a much slower pace. I did keep a couple of saves from my previous game. I kept the last Ebon Hawk save before departing for the final destination, in case I ever get Live or if OXM ever gets the bonus content. I kept another save right before a critical turning point for a dark side character near the end, and the last one I kept was before the room of the final boss.

I always just saved at crucial points in the story, so I could always go back and make another choice, of course I ended up with like 20 saves but whatever. Finally got this back from a friend who i let borrow the game for a bit, the bastard only played it once and wrote it off as boring. Personally I think he just got lost and wussed out.

My friend is currently addicted to KOTOR. He's usually online every night and he hasn't been on in about a week. I talked to him in school and he hasn't done much homework, eschewing it in favor of playing his beloved KOTOR. That's kinda scary...almost like those Everquest freaks that give up their life in favor of Everquest.
