Need help choosing a lawn mower

My sister recently bought a new house and she was asking me what type of lawn mower she should get. Honestly, I do not know what is good brand, model, and price. Our current one that is at my parent's house is a Craftsman from like 10 years ago and it still works surprisingly.

So CAGs, any suggestions on this?

Get one with a Honda motor. The deck will rust away before you have to do any mechanical work to it.

It all depends on the size of the yard and how much time she is willing to spend mowing. If its a small yard then a push mower would probably suffice. I personally like Exmark.

Gas lawn mowers tend to be a lot better than electric, in my experience.

I actually worked as a repair tech for Sears on Lawn and Garden equipment for part of HS/college. People are right on with Gas being better than electric! Also, try to avoid the lesser brand mowers as they are harder to get repairs/parts for (unless you have a small repair shop nearby). Craftsman mowers are fairly reliable as long as they're well taken care of. Just make sure she isn't leaving gas in it all winter, air filter and blades need changed every 3-4 years depending on how much use it gets. You can get a pretty solid mower for between 250-300$, and as long as she takes good care of it should last 10-15 years.

Self propelled is a must. I use a Troy Bilt we got a few years ago and it still works great.

If the lawn is not too big or bumpy. This Friskars Stay Sharp Max is awesome. Its awesome not having to hear a loud mower and smell nasty gas while mowing.

I have a Husqvarna, I think it has a Kohler engine. It's been great though.

Agreed. The lawnmower name doesn't really matter as long as the engine is Honda. My Yardmachine w/ Honda mower has lasted eight years without any problem whatsoever.

I got the lawnmower awhile ago and forgot to post about it.

It's not bad, very quiet compared to the old Craftsman my dad has. The only thing that could make this better if my sister's lawn did not have divots everywhere.
