I think it's an average choice. With the inclusion of the 20" WS LCD, it makes the deal fair. While I probably won't recommend Dell over other companies, this particular model isn't bad for people who dont want to deal with building their own PC, and instead, would rather prefer having it ready to be used straight out of the box. There are deals for black friday at various stores like Best Buy and CompUSA; but as for Dell, I can't tell you for sure if they'll have BF online, but most likely as I remembered them having it last year or two.

Looking at this thread from FW since it's a consolidated BF desktop PC list, Best Buy is selling a similar PC but with a 17" LCD for $700. So that really puts your Dell choice at about the same price range with the addition of the cost for an 20" LCD. If you decide to buy the Dell, wait till black friday to see if they will run better deals. Buying it now, before black friday, is not a smart thing to do.

well thats the thing.. I saw that bestbuy deal, just not interested in that 17in screen.. And Im done with circuitCity and their useless rebates.. if i wait, the 20in ultra widescreen deal expires and thats what i like about this deal.. Its the nicest screen out there.. I saw that bestbuy deal, just not interested in that 17in screen..

I'm not sure if Dell still does this or not, but they also used to make it where you couldn't upgrade anything unless you bought it off of them. If you know somebody who knows how to built computer, I would just use the money and buy it all from newegg or something.
Otherwise it looks like a decent deal, nothing great but nothing bad, will immeadiately want to upgrade some parts though.

Well, the other day I bought a Dell Desktop just to use for basic computing necessities. 19" flat + 5150 desktop 3.04 P4.for $400. I'm sure they'll have a similar deal on BF. As for upgrading Dell. I think the only things you need to upgrade would be special tools because their screws for the hard drive bays are different, but this wouldn't cost you an arm and leg. But if you really want Core2Duo, I suggest waiting until BF. Oh yeah, if the computer is Vista capable, I believe you can get a coupon for a free upgrade to Vista.

Yea just seems like a core2duo and a 20in lcd (not the standard but an Ultra) for under $800 seems like a great deal to me, but i do not want to buy it and they have a killer deal for BF.. Thats why im wondering form preivious buyer if Dell has BF specials..
