Need help shopping for a projector!

I have found many web resources for buying a projector and such...but perhaps a gaming community could help me the most.

I'm looking for a projector for mainly watching movies, but also for games.

I've seen someone selling online under the $1,500 mark, that were HD up to 1080i, seemed good, etc.

But, the cheaper the better for me right now, but I still want something that looks good. I can't really try out these things at the store, or online.

so, what brands/models are reccomended? Would I regret buying something close to $1,000?

I don't think spending close to $1,000 is a bad idea, you're going to get a huge screen for less than most big screen TV's cost. Keep in mind that replacement bulbs are expensive though and they burn out after a while.

I don't have any experience owning a projector though so I don't know what brands to recommend.
