might be stupid question. I though i had it but dont know how to use it (either that or i never got it)

Where do i get the world map from and how to i use it (turn it on/off)

thanks

I believe you press the select button. I found this game to be confusing as hell. I do not know where to go most of the time. And the walkthroughs at gamefaqs don't help either.

where do you pick it up at though. Im pushing the select button and nothing is happening i though i had it but guess not...i guess i just print off the world map picture at Gamefaqs and try to find my way around that way ..

Hey, I just got this game, too. IGN informed me that holding down B and SELECT will get you the map. In FFII, you have to get a certain ring first before using this feature (which I believe is noted in the GBA game manual). Not knowing where to go is a real pain in FFI, so that's why I started up on FFII, but GameFAQs will help you along (esp. with the help of the world map).

dpac is correct, hold down B and press select. I agree that FFI is a pain in the ass if you don't know where to go since some of the clues are pretty poor.

Yea I'm lost like 75% of the time. My characters are getting uber strong from just traveling around trying to find where to go next.

I think I collected well over 500,000 gil (after buying the best equipment and spells) thanks to my endless wandering. I guess it's time to fire up that walk-through again.... ;)

I highly recommend this FAQ. I found it to be very detailed and helpful. I also got lost a bit in FF1 but with that guide, I was able to finally beat it. Going to start FF2 soon, yay!

I've been using that very FAQ to lead me on each time I got stuck. Trying to stumble upon the next town/cave/castle where you need to go is nice, but that can take a lot of time you might not have. (Oh, I've tried.) The only problem is being forced to turn on the computer each time I need a clue (while trying to save printer paper, ink, and any surprise elements of the story from being spoiled).

i like to just walk around in games like this for a few hours to build up levels. I think i do this cause im sick of newer RPG games that you can just walk though and then get killed by the final boss cause your Level is only 1/2 that it should be . Then you need to wonder back for 30 hours just go get enough hps to kill the final boss. Thanks for the help

Game is sort of short im 8 1/2 hours into in include walking around time and have 3 stones light.. the BM are way too freaking powerful. I can buy 99 eithers dirt cheap and just let my BM destroy everything and just reooop them with the Eithers (my BM is like level 36 with almost 600 MP points)

I personally found FF I to be more enjoyable than II. It had been a while so I had forgotten how annoying the skill system was in FF II. I too used the same FAQ since I had forgotten some things.
that game is really hard compared to the newer rpgs
I wouldn't say that either FF game in this collection is that hard; they're just a bit tedious thanks to endless wandering (until I found out about the map feature, that is) and random encounters. Of course, your mileage may vary as all my wandering helped to level me up about 10-20 times more than needed (especially on the boss battles; the difficulty was just about right with the added dungeons in FF1).
