i could use some help on the following 2 questions, first one is:

my.php

and second one is easier, just don't know the process for the last section:

my.php

thanks

I'm pretty sure for the first one you distribute the x, which gives you:
Log(base 4) 3x^2-8x = 2

To exponential form is:
3x^2-8x = 4^2
3x^2-8x = 16
3x^2-8x-16 = 0
(3x+4)(x-4) = 0
x = 4 or -4/3

And since log of x would be the log of a negative for x = -4/3, your answer is:
x = 4

For the last one IIRC you'd just plug in 2 for x, and you've already got the equation from the first part so just plug it in there. I'm not positive though, I haven't done that for a few years.

Next time, post what you've tried so we can see that we're actually helping you and not just doing your homework, OP. :whistle2:|
I'll let it go this time since Rocko already solved the problems.

A (better, in my opinion, but more limited) other way to solve the first problem is to notice that both the logarithms have base 4. So, just raise 4 to the power of everything in the equation. That'll eliminate all the logs and get you x+3x-8=16. Easy from there.

As for the second one, come on now.

sorry Liquid i'm retarded when it comes to math.

i'm taking a math class online and work off examples to understand how things work. for the 2 questions posted above there were no examples and i'm too stupid to figure it out.

Google search is way more helpful than you think. There are a ton of sites out there that'd help you with logs.

The second one is tougher to find online if you don't know how to read it: (f o g) is read "f composed of g." Try searching that and see what it gets you.
That looks like WebCT.
you are correct sir

Liquid2 - yeah google is great and it's come in handy in the past for looking up questions i had problems with in the past. but it came up short with the previous questions stated above.

Math is harder to learn online. I took Trig online once and that was horrible. Our video examples looked like they were taped in the 60s. I basically had to teach myself and pass with a B.
