Need your opinion on my design.

I want to say that the colors are ugly, but it matches the system. I like it.. i'll probably post there..

Might wanna get those PSP forums outta there though :p

you should change that white to silver or grey.... that white on green hurts my retinas. the overall design is spiffy though.

I like the overall look of the site, but like Scorch said, the colors are ugly and too bright it seems on my monitor. But they do go with the colors of the 360, so I guess it's alright.

great job. I like the banner on the top. The first thing that caught my eye is the main green color that is used. It looks a little ugly to me.

Yeah..it's tough to work with the 360 colors. THe background actually is off-white. I been playing with it but haven't gotten it right. I had a dark background image at one point but it made the screen look too green. Let me see what I can do.

the green is a bit more of a glow in the dark, lightish green. If that ends up hurting the eyes i suggest making the green the background and silver for the boxes

the lines are necessarry. IMO it makes everything just a bit more organized looking

the toolbar and banner are awesome. Maybe you can think of something for the banner's buttons?

A great design, just try to get rid of the puke green color

Well I added the borders and also changed many of the button graphics. I think it's really coming together. On my monitor the sites greens don't look overly bright. I will check my other 3 computer monitors to compare. I have 2 brands of LCD's I can test on and a couple CRT's.

The green is alright for the button logo but pretty garish for the background. Seeing as custom faceplates are being rpomoted for the 360, I think you can take some artistic license and choose a look that is more pleasing. The logo bar is fine and you should feel free to do what ever you like below that. Consistency need only be taken so far.

Besides, when the product actually gets close to rollout and the PR campaign kicks in, there may be a different scheme to emulate.

Just for kicks, could clicking on the power button close the window?

The green wasn't too ugly on my monitor, though if you went with black instead of gray for the text, it might be a better contrast. With the gray, it makes the text a little hard to deal with.

Well thanks guys. It's been tough designing this thing and everyones comments have been helpful.

I am gonna go now and spend another couple hours trying to fix the green issue.

So you're going to go have a chat with Bill?

OK..so I listened as best I could and made some serious CSS changes. I guess I was over zealous with the green. Personally I like green and my monitor displayed it just fine. When I went to one of my LCD's though it was rather bright.

Please take a look at the changes I made and give me your best opinion.

Not bad. The top bar (with the CP, register, etc. buttons) looks really weird with the glossy green... try changing the overlay (yellow) to something else.

Also, you might wnat to smooth out the X360 buttons by the section names.

Maybe it's just me but the 'welcome'; 'general xbox 360 talk', etc. seem to be slightly off center. I thought it might be my computer (I like to work at the higher res - 1600x1200) but I tried it at 800x600 and it still seems slightly off. Maybe left align them?

Also, the icons at the bottom are hard to differentiate from the wallpaper containing different green circles. A bit distracting to the eye. Everything else looks good to me.

Yeah that background I finally got looking good. It still needs more tweaking though because like you said..those little icons are confusing the bottom text.

Seems like now the complaints are based on either the header or the nav bar. I will see what I can do. At least I fixed all that green nonsense.

Thanks guys you have been very helpful.

Hopefully I can launch this thing really soon.
Very nice. Much easier on the eyes.
Agreed. Far better than the earlier conception. I really like the banner now of the Xbox360 forum logo. It really differentiates with the background and really stands out now. Before it seemed to blend a little too much.

I think I would separate the ads at the bottom of the page with a line or something similiar or to push them a little lower down the page. They seem kind of awkward at their current location.

The overall design looks far cleaner than in its earlier form. The lines and spacing really for the different forums greatly helps out the site to seem more organized. Earlier it seemed a little too, what's the word I'm looking for, crammed to say the least. Now it is far easier to navigate. Great job so far.
