Negative Feedback for canceling an established trade?

Just wanted to get everyone'e opinion on this. I had a trade worked out with someone on here. He was going to send first as I had more feedback. In my last PM I gave him my address etc. A week later I hadn't heard anything from him so I PMed him to see what was up. He told me that he wasn't sure that I really wanted to trade so he didn't send yet, but assured me he would send out the next day. One week later I still don't have anything and haven't heard anything. After sending 2 more PMs, he writes back telling me he has 'too many things to send out now' so he wants to cancel the trade.

Now I know it's not a huge deal as I didn't lose anything, but it is irritating especially since he told me he sent it after my first inquiry.

So does this deserve a negative feedback or should I just let it go?

Considering that no one sent anything and from the sounds of it, he got cold feet on the deal, you should just let it go. Plus if you left him a neg, he'd just do the same thing to you.

let it go, i run into these all the times due to my personal problems. If u don't wanna let it go, then a nuetral is more sufficient than a negative.

Since you didn't loose any item other than wasting some of your time, I say the worst you should give the guy is a neutral. If it were me, I probably wouldn't give any feedback other than to PM him about his undesirable behavior. Negative feedback should be reserved for those times where you paid for something but didn't get it. Or when you ship an item but didn't get something back.

Since nothing changed hands, the deal didn't go through, and therefore, there's nothing to feedback.

IMHO, let it go and just don't deal with them in the future.

Did he ever actually say "I have sent it" , or just "I plan to send it tomorrow." If the former, than there's an issue there that he lied.
I don't know if it deserves a neg, but I'd definitely not be in a hurry to trade with this person again.

Technically speaking you give feedback on a COMPLETED Transaction. Since this deal didn't get up off the ground, you CAN'T leave ANY feedback. In that same regards I could leave feedback for those indivuals that PM and ask to see there lists to work out a deal and then it falls apart.

In conclusion: let it go, shit happens.

EDIT: Damn, missed shrikes response.

No he just said that he will send it tomorrow. I guess I will just let it go. I'm not fuming or anything, and I am used to people asking about stuff and not responding, but this was just that much closer to being completed which is what annoyed me about it.

Did you send him a PM and let him know that you understood, though were disappointed/annoyed about how it went down?

You can always start your DNT (Do Not Trade) list with him, if you'd like. Reliability seems to be a concern, yes.

If you're thinking of harming his reputation with a negative eval, you're obviously angry and want to "get back" at him. Just let it go. If everyone left negative evals when someone got cold feet or two traders lost touch or whatever then they would have less meaning.

A negative eval means that someone ripped you off, lied to you about the item or just generally took you for a ride. Neutrals are for minor things like gross lack of communication, poor packing quality, lying about shipping method, etc.

Yes all taken care of, thanks for the responses.

Obviously I'm angry and annoyed as I've already stated. I'm also rational or I would not have made this thread. I'm also pretty sure that I'm not the only person to have this happen to them so this thread may be insightful to future traders.

You can leave feedback, it's been done before. Do realize that he can also leave feedback.

If I remember correctly stinkpickle left lainus a negative for saying he would purchase some games he never paid for. Personally I'd say tolding on to a game for 3 weeks that could have been traded to someone else, while being repeatedly told a trade was still active else is enough justification for a negative/neutral.

That was pretty much the way I was looking at it. Minus the listing fees, it's not very much unlike a non-paying bidder on ebay.

Basically, especially if it's a hot item. Imagine if you were trying to trade off God of War the week in came out, you'd do a lot better than 3 weeks after the fact. I'd just leave him a negative, perhaps people will take the feedback system a bit more seriously then.

Well I pretty much share your sentiment, but I suppose no harm no foul will win the day. I'm not going to leave any feedback.

That negative was moved forward into the new system and ended up generating StinkPickle a retaliatory negative that he didn't have before, and he didn't want one. I worked to mutually remove each one, when they agreed to consider that it hadn't happened.

"ignore" feature would be handy in this situation

his excuse is pretty damn weak. i got a full time job, go to school, a family, volunteer shit, ebay auctions, personal hygeine to keep up, cars to wash, lawns to mow, honey do lists, porn sites to visit, dogs to kick etc....and i still find time to drop shit off at the post office.

3 damn weaks is bullshit...understandable within a couple of days. if you start negging for bs like this the floodgates will open with unreasonable requests to neg on cancelled trades.

oh well good luck on getting you wants...to the other guy, karma is a bitch.

Damn, when did you start keeping up with your personal hygiene?

Yes, but it was there for a time. Other users whom I won't name have left negative feedback for traders who never sent. I'm not saying it's a good idea but more that you can do it. Hell if I sat on a game a wanted gone for 3 weeks I'd be pissed too.
