I used to have a Neo Geo Cart System back then when their games still cost like few hundreds dollars each.
Right now i am considering getting a Neo Geo Cart system or CD system.
I was wondering if there is any region lock on it if i buy a import one to play English games.

Thanks

stick to the cart system, since the cd's only advantage is the fact that they have better quality soundtracks.
as for region locks, if you get a japanese system, all region games will show up in japanese. a us system will play 99% of all region games in english.

you may want to spend a few extra hundred bucks and get someone to make you a consolized MVS with the Unibios or get a supergun and a 1 or two slot adaptor.

MVS games are a hell of a lot cheaper and would save you money in the long run

MVS?
You mean those arcade system?
I dont mind about the extra few hundreds but i dont have a whole lot of space in my apartment.

The systems will generally play the games in the region that the system is. Meaning if you have a JApanese system, and US game, it will still play in Japanese. Some games also are "censored " on American systems, like Samurai Showdown.

I've got a Neo Geo CD, and I'm pretty happy with it. The load times can be a pain on a few games, but I don't think they're that much worse than other CD based systems that came out around that time. It's a good lower cost alternative if you are mainly interested in playing the older games (like I was)

Thanks for clearing it up for me.
I will check ebay for some deals now.

You can go MVS without going with a full size cabinet. CaseyRyback mentioned you could have a consolized MVS, which is, as it sounds, basically a console. Single slot MVS boards can be quite small, so having one of the smaller models consolized would basically like having an AES, only the games are so much cheaper. You can even use AES controllers on a consolized MVS(actually they're pretty standard on superguns as well). A supergun is basically the same thing, except that instead of being customized for use with MVS only it will work with any JAMMA arcade PCB. Since you don't seem to mind spending so much you should look into these options.

I've wanted one for a long time, and I'm trying to find the cheapest option possible. I'll probably wait until I bump into one somewhere.
