Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect set???

on the link it said one 127.49 nut if u hit the new and used button it will take u to a store that has it for 60.00 in new condition. I think its worth it iv been told that its an awesome anime .

A great series but not really worth it since they are currently re-releasing the remastered Evangelion series as the "Platinum Collection." What you listed is just the old original ADV releases. And they had this same set on sale for under $40 before Christmas at Righstfuf. So, the show is worth it. Just go get the Platinum discs instead. The differences between the regular DVDs and the Platinum DVDs is incredible.

Totally worth it, but wait for the Platinum Set. Honestly, after watching a lot of the newer anime, the Perfect Set of Eva shows definite signs of age in terms of image quality.
Too bad you missed the right stuff sale, I got mine for 40 as did many others.
Why don't you rub it in?
I went by my local BB today and bought some anime (I bough Naussica and Ghost in the Shell). I saw THIS:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...1/103-1344821-6274207?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846

For $75 bucks. Should I buy it? Is this a good price? A good series? HELP!
No.

This is the old edition that is being phased out and replaced with the Platinum Edition, which is digitally remastered and features 5.1 sound.

Good series? A matter of opinion, but the series is damn popular enough to have tons of merchandise still coming out for it nearly a decade after its release with no help from sequels or spin-offs. If you are looking to get this series on DVD, definitely go with the Platinum Edition instead.

Some people say the difference between this set and the platinum set is major, others say it's no big deal. I ordered the set fro $40 over Christmas and have yet to watch it. Everyone seems to love it, which makes me skeptical.

I'd say unless you KNOW you love it, then getting the normal set is just fine. But of course it's your money. Heh.

The thing is, once all 7 of the platinum edition volumes comes out (the last one streets 4/19 i believe), a platinum boxset will no doubt be released or at least announced. This will probably be over $100, maybe pushing $150- pure speculation.
But the previous perfect collection that is now $75 will no doubt droubt even further, just as the rightstuf sale showed.
As the series is already almost 10 years old, there is no rush to see it and if hyped it up too much, it can disappoint.
I suggest waiting, but know the platinum box will definitely be over $75.

Well, if you just wanna check it out, I think old VHS releases can be had on eBay for far less than 40 bucks.

Eva is not universally loved. Do a Google search and you will see tons of flame wars or extremely articulated arguments over the merits of this series. This is a love-it-or-hate-it series due to its use of pop psychology for character development and religious references. Touchy subjects that can rub people the wrong way.

People who say there is little difference between the 2 versions either don't have a 5.1 sound system or haven't watched the old version recently enough to remember the shaky video/image.

I thought it was because the main character was a big cry baby... I still liked the series though.

I have that one and am currently recollecting the platinum series one.

I would recommend getting the platinum sereies too since the video and audio is overhauled and it has some nice commentary.

Otherwise, I have a used perfect collection if you want to work something out for it.

If anyone has this thing and wants to get rid of it for the newer ones, please PM me. I'm interested in these older ones (simply because I watch anime on my PS2 and my 5.1 surround systems isn't that great to begin with... ) I just wanna watch the series (I'm starting to become an anime fan).
