New 3DS Question(s) about "Profiles"

Hey there, so I recently picked up a 3DS, a 3DS XL, and a N3DS XL (also have a DS Lite) -- I'm trying to figure out how my NNID or any games I've downloaded on one or the others can be transferred (if at all?). 

Also, I know that an actual transfer can be done from the 3DSXL to the N3DSXL, but what happens to my 3DS XL after I transfer things? Does my "user profile" still stay on the 3DSXL or does it go back to a "userless" factory default setting? Would I be able to use both of my XL's at the same time to play games, or would the universe implode with 2 of "mii" being there at the same time?

I guess I'm just kind of a noob when it comes to these since I'm used to the framework of say, the xbox, where everything is tied to the profile and can be transferred (or the 360/1 where it can be used on both), haven't quite figured out the whole Nintendo framework yet.

When you transfer from the original 3ds xl it'll be reset to factory defaults, with no profile, I tried to reassign my id back to my original 3ds xl after I had transferred everything to my N3DSXL, it said you can only have an id assigned to one 3ds at a time.

 
Darn. That's a bummer. So I guess I got pick one and retire the other... Or just create 2 profiles :(

So I'm assuming its the same way with the original 3ds's as well.
 
I was wondering about this too. A guy offered to sell me a 3dsXl that has about 20 games on it and the games are worth way more than what he is asking.  My concern would be how I would get them onto my New3DS XL without losing much from it.
