new DS lite color is here!
We get crimson-black, they get silver
the presentation of this fact wants dearly to deliver an opinion, but i don't know which opinion it is!

this is why i hate nintendo. i love my ds and all but why the fuck do they feel the need to keep on remaking the same shit with diff colors? and then beyond that why the fuck do people feel the need to buy diff colors of the same damn thing? what kind of voodoo do they do so well that they can make millions selling the same shit with a diff pigment ? i can understand why nintendo do es it but just wish i could peer into the minds of those who buy multiple ds, or gba's or gamecubes all for the diff color schemes.

now if you could pay an extra 10 or 20 to have them make a ds with a custom color scheme or pattern then id be all for it but anything else is just lunacy to me.

To make more money. It took the DS coming out in pink for my ex to even consider getting a DS.

Well, in this instance, they are still trying to get people to upgrade thier old fat DS and I'm pretty sure there are many cases of "I like this new color, maybe my -family member/friend- would want my old one"

i can understand upgrading from the old ds to the new one since i remember reading somewhere you get a brighter screen in the trade off and maybe a few other extras although i dont know what . what are the diffs between the fat ds and the skinny one? but yeah i waited to get a ds for 2 reasons 1 a price drop and 2 i know theyred be a better version after the first one came out and im sure theres a few other versiosn waiting to be released.

thanks for letting me know why some of you buy multiple versions its something that ive wanted to know for a while now just like people who buy more than one copy of a game or multiple copies of dvds although the dvd thing pisses me off even more.

ds lite has improvements in several areas. here's what i can think of offhand:

size (smaller)
design (top and bottom are same size, more aethestic)
glossy exterior (this is matter of preference)
brighter screen
adjustable brightness
better stylus

better positioning of the buttons and stylus slot

it looks very nice. i would definitly prefer it to my white. i won't be completely jealous until the ice blues and navy blues start to head west.

fuck YES, FINALLY! :D :D :D

It's been two years since I bought my first game, and now I'll finally have a way to play my 20 DS games! (And yes, I'm crazy)
Call me when their is Lime Green or Bright Orange.

+1
but what is up with silver? That thing is ugly and pointless right now. Must be something for the older audience.

looks alright, but i'd much prefer a complete gold one, thanks for the link though :)
Everything is coming full circle. So says my silver Phat. But still I resist!
what is it youre waiting for in the wqays of a new ds? a specific color or other console changes/enhancements?
what is it youre waiting for in the wqays of a new ds? a specific color or other console changes/enhancements?
Color, mostly. While the potential gold DS is intriguing, I'd still prefer a nice dark green or purple. I fully acknowledge that the screen on the Lite is beautiful, but other than that I have no problem with my Phat in the meantime.

A slight price drop would also be nice, but I'm not holding my breath (my Phat only cost me $100, so it'll be sad to pay more for an upgrade as well).

i can understand trying to wait for those reasons. i waited till that brain age 2 bundle came out that and the free shipping from amazon made it worthwhile at 159. still im pretty antsy that they will come out with a better version again but with all the great games on the system i dont feel too bad about buying it. just wish theyd put out more old n64 games.

Looks really nice, though I'm still holding out for the sexy Enamel Blue one, if it ever comes stateside. Watch that happen a month or two after I finally give up and import one.

Does anyone own a silver one? How does it compare to the white and the black ones? Does it have a yellowish tint, a lot of smudging, easily scratched, discolour over time etc?

Bring on the clear! I miss the days when everything came out in clear. Sure they got filthy but it was fun to see inside my Sega Saturn and it's controller.

Sorry to bump this up again, but is anyone in a position to answer this question for me now? I really can't decide whether to get a silver, black, or white ds lite and would like to hear from someone who has played with a silver one.

I sadly started getting interested in a Crimson/Black Lite (I already own white from launch day), but once I saw it in store, I decided not to. The screen was a bit too yellow (my current one is slightly off, but nowhere near as yellow as the crimson/black), and I didn't like the fact that the black didn't have the translucent plastic over it.

My understanding is the silver also does not have the translucent plastic over it.

So at this point I'm thinking if I'm stupid enough to upgrade for color, it will be for:

1. Enamel Navy. Always liked this color, and it drives me crazy that they won't release it here. Or,

2. Red. A bright sports car red with the translucent plastic over it. That just screams supercharged.

I was ticked after I bought my "release day white" that the black came out so soon thereafter, but I've sort of gotten over it since it's so damned popular.
