New DVD Player

i see a lot on amazon, tho most of the $30 ones look like junk, you would do better getting one of the $40 players

avoid multi disc players(get a single disc player, not a 5 disc player or whatever) because they are more likely to break

this one is probably a better buy

this is the one i ended up getting

hey you can get the phillips one with a extra mail in rebate of 20 bucks at circuit city.com buy and pick it online

We bought a real cheap Sylvania for like $40 last year and it hasn't broken yet. We use it for our workout room so I can pump iron to whatever movie I want. Cheap/crappy isn't bad if its not going to be your main player.

Can anybody recommend a good and cheap DVD/VCR combo at Wal-Mart? Or just a DVD player that they sell? My mom has a $50 gift card from there. I was wanting her to get one. :)

Or would it be better to buy a stand alone dvd player and vcr? I only wanted a vcr to tape something on tv this saturday night (Garbage concert on Soundstage on PBS). The vcr we have doesn't work.

Thanks.

I'd recommend the Philips DVP642 - that's the one Dracula bought. It will play damn near any format of disk, just about any video file from the pc and it's very easy to make region free, just a simple code. Not to mention the picture is beautiful from it.

That's perfect and exactly what I need. Do any B&M stores by chance sell it?
