New Ipod Nano
Not worth the money, IMO... but that thing is awesome looking. Technology is an amazing thing.
It's definitely not worth the money, but it's hard to resist something that sexy...
uhhh, isn't the 20 gig 300? Wow people are stupid...

(not the OP, the consumers)
The 20GB uses a hard drive, which can crash.

The iPod nanos are flash drive based, hardly the same technology.

Exactly. Flash based players can take much more abuse, which is a good thing for some people or uses.

I don't get the "it's too expensive" complaining. The prices for a 4 gb flash memory card is $230 alone. A 4 gb flash USB drive is about $230 at newegg.com

I agree the 2 gb is a little pricey but for what you get, not that bad.

It's pricey in the sense that I can get a Drive based player for $200-250 at 20 gigs (I spent 199.99 for my Dell DJ 20 gig (2nd Gen), compared to a flash based player that's 4 gigs and costs just as much. Yeah for a flash player that price isn't bad, but I still wouldn't spend that much on something with such little space even if it does look pretty damn cool.

Does this have a color screen?*Edit, it does* I'm waiting for the Zen micro photo. Apple keeps low blowing them when thinner newer players and price cuts. I just want my Zen photo.

Yes it has a color screen and a clickwheel. Basically the non-stripped down version of iPod Shuffle, with solid state storage that will never crash on you. I was turned off by the Shuffle (also flash drive based) for the lack of classic iPod hardware features, but the nano's exactly what I've been waiting for. Being able to squeeze 3 days' worth of music into that little thing is plenty of storage for me - some people must be using low compression and end up wasting a lot of space for nearly inaudible sound quality difference.

i just got one, i have a 20 gig u2, but i have that mainly for ALL of my music, but i got a nano so that i can have it for exercise and just my favorite songs, oh and btw

NO BASHING PLEASE

I really don't like the price, the player itself is cool though!

I'll stick with my 20 gig...it's just way too small for beeing >$200

I was about to say the same thing.

Wow, a Rio Carbon with a color screen and no mic plus 1 Gb less storage for $300. Oh wait its flash based, that totally validifies the $300. Its cool looking but come on, if more people keep buying more overpriced apple crap they will just get more and more expensive. What has become of the true cheap asses?

We save so much on DVD's and Games that we have the money to spend on stuff like this

I've got a really old Ipod, don't even think I got close to 1000 songs on it... might sell that one off and get a nano through Apple with the student discount.
Is apple going to stop selling the ipod mini because i dont see it on the website.
consider it dead/deceased.

check ebay.

Of course, if you hate iTunes, you're still SOL. I'll keep using my PSP. I hear it even plays games...

For everyone ONE person that said the Ipod Mini was a ripoff because of the close price to the 20 gig, there was probably TWO consumers that went and bought a mini for themselves/family.

Apple knows that people are going to pay for form factor, which is why the Mini was a success.

No difference here folks, this thing is going to sell like hot cakes.
One thing I think this player needs is FM radio and recorder. I mean for the price, come on Apple.
I would have already bought one if they included FM Radio... the one thing it's missing imo.
Can this new one use the speaker docks for the photo and mini iPods?
Yes, the nano is compatible with the 1000+ iPod accessories out there.

I'd rather save $50 and not have extras like radio (those with a MP3 player are usually the ones sick of the crap on the radio anyways).
Wow.
This ipod nano is awesome.
I think I'll postpone my plan to get a psp and get this instead.
The Ipod probably has better games, as well.

Ohhh, burned.

Getting a psp + 4BG memory stick (which probably doesn't exist) will cost about twice as much. The ipod nano also has 3 times the battery life. The ipod is not a gaming machine and that is fine with me and a lot of other people.

Ohhh, burned
Go Play With Yourself Instead of bothering me.

Hey asshole, I was making a joke, I actually own both a PSP and an Ipod Nano (which is en route to my house).

Ohh, burned, get a sense of humor please.

The rumored price of the 8-10 GB Zen Micro Photo w/ FM radio is $250-$280. When I got my first player (1 GB) for working out I didn't really think I would use the radio but I did. The only problem with it is reception is moderate to extremely difficult to get sometime.

Ya it's dead the nano replaces the ipod mini. It suprising because the mini was the most successful ipod.

Can you back that up? I'm not calling you a liar or anything, but I find that really hard to believe.

Check any of the dozens of reports on Apple's nano unveiling. Steve Jobs says it himself, the mini was the star of the Apple lineup. The shuffle got a lukewarm reception, and the regular iPod always sold modestly, but the minis sold like nuts.

I'd consider the nano but I already have an iPod (10gb, 3rd gen) and barely use that.

ehh..went ahead and ordered 2. One for me and one for the gf. I got the student discount down to 179.99, but they charged me 12% sales tax!!!!!!!! I called them and they claimed that this was TN tax. I told them that no state in the USA has 12% tax and that they could be severely audited. They got a manager and he adjusted the price after a long debate. I am not dropping this though because I bet they screw a lot of people with their "taxes." I love being a tax accounting major. :)

My wife got a black one yesterday at our local apple store. I had called them 2 days ago and they told me that they wouldn't get them til next week sometime. My wife goes yesterday and voila! comes home with a 4gig beauty. Should I ask how she did it? Hahaha

Do any current MP3 players (any Apple ones especially) have AM radio? I really want one for my breaks in between classes but I listen to AM radio when I get bored of the music.

yea, steve jobs said at the special event, "the ipod mini has been the most successful mp3 player around the world. Today we are making a big risk. We're replacing it. Let me introduce to you the ipod nano........"
not exact quote, but i watched the thing and it was pretty sweet, i just need to get out there when they announce those events
the audience had the chance to buy the motorola rokr phone and/or the nano outside of the conference room
