New Mario & Luigi RPG 3 actually looks pretty fun

Nintendo stills makes video games, whoa! Seriously though, this formula has gotten way too stale, it looks just like the last two. I'll probably pass on it.

I'm hoping it turns out well. I loved the first one and liked the 2nd one ok.

Nope. I don't think either of the first two were developed by Nintendo and I'm sure this one isn't either.

Yep-P, the Mario & Luigi games were developed by Alpha Dream Corporation, who also developed the Hamtaro GBA games.

Chris has got it nailed. The first one was one of the most fun games I've ever played. Then I played it a second time when they called it a #2 and it was the same old game with a touch pad and I never even finished it. I will probably pick this one up because I hope it is good but I am not expecting much.

I don't care if the formula doesn't change as long as the game is more like the first one. The second one wasn't very funny and became tedious half way through and felt like it kept dragging on.

What a coincidence that the people complaining about something being too similar sound like every other post they've ever made!

I only remembered the touch pad being used once to be honest. The main difference was the use of the X and Y buttons for Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, and they just used items instead of magic (bros points).

It was pretty fun. Not as good as the first, and nowhere near as funny, but it was definitely enjoyable. This one looks like a lot of fun. Definitely checking it out!

First one was better, but I still liked the second one. Only gripe was some of the boss battles took too long--especially the last one. They weren't hard in the sense that I beat most on the first try, they just took to long to get through.

The last one took me close to 2 hours as I wasn't dying but wasn't killing the boss either as it was healing so often. I eventually figured it out and beat it--been so long I don't remember what the deal was.

In any case, I don't need a lot of innovation in the third one. I'm more of a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" guy with franchises. I mean a reach a limit eventually *cough* metroidvania *cough*, but as long as they don't run a series into the ground with too frequent sequels I'm fine just getting games that play more or less the same with just a new story and world.

I preferred the 2nd one over the 1st in terms of dialogue. However, both games were pretty good in their own right.

Definitely picking this up when it gets localized.

Isn't that more ironic than coincidental?!?!?!

I hope Yoko Shimomura is composing for this game. She is such a good composer.

Honestly, I only remember playing the first one and thought it was alright. I have a bad tendency of comparing anything that has Mario and RPG in the same title to the original one on SNES - which was a perfect mix of RPG and fun-mini games.

"actually looks pretty fun"? IMO the first two were two of the best games on the GBA/DS :D

I actually liked the second one a lot more than the first one though. Seemed shorter (or at least more straight forward), a bit less tedious, more fun location (to me, I'd rather be in the more visually unique Mushroom Kingdom), and of course the graphics were even better.
