I'm a huge Radiohead fan. Too bad they aren't letting us download all of the songs, but you can't complain about choosing your own price. I can't wait to hear the new album!

eh, they got about 8 pounds from me, it's funny how we steal the music people expect us to pay for, and overpay for downloads that we aren't expected to.
Whats the album review?
I don't think there are any album reviews. And I'm pretty confident there aren't any leaks either. Radiohead's keeping it pretty close to their chest.

I live in Southern California and the music industry is freaking out over this. Letting customers name their price terrifies every single music manager out there. It is a bold move, but then again, I have seen my friends pay a crap load of money to go to Radiohead shows...perhaps the cosmos are balancing out...

Personally I think you should change the title to something like "Name your own price for the new Radiohead".

Yes, the music industry is freaking out over this. This could potentially be a watershed moment. If successful, we could see the abandonment of labels by more popular artists.

You should all consider at least paying a small amount for the hard work that they have put into this... and to make a statement to the music industry that they do not have 100% control over what we will listen to.

Nah the music industry shouldn't freak out too much. Radiohead is one of the few bands that can do this since they have a history of excellence and a loyal fanbase. Take a superstar like Britney Spears in her prime and I doubt she would have made any money at all by doing this. There can't be more than a handful of artists that have the power to do this succesfully.

Exactly why they're freaking out. Artists with no real talent would go broke and those who produce amazing work (like Radiohead) will be just fine. The major labels don't want to realize their game is dead.

I paid $10 for this, as a donation for the awesome music they have brought out through the years.

I did this a few days ago, dont abuse it, actually donate because finally a band is stickin it to the man

I paid nothing.

I've actually never listened to a full radiohead cd before, I've heard the singles and liked them, but never a full cd.

I figure if I like it, I'll purchase the hard copy or some merch to make up for it.

I'm a huge RH fan. I payed 10 bucks for it. Want the box set, but $80 is a big much for me right now. Maybe in the near future...

I really like this move. It's going to be really interesting to see what their # of albums downloaded to total profit ratio is. Essentially, the $ amount earned per download compared to how much profit the band was making off of CD releases. ...Assuming they release that information, of course. I don't see why they wouldn't, though, if the numbers are favorable (which I believe they will be.

I'm not really a fan of their music or anything, but I might just give 'em $5-10 bucks just to reward their sheer boldness, if the music's okay.
Its 160kbps, not the best but it will tide you over and you can decide if you want to buy it in the future.
Thanks for the response! You are right, 160 is so-so. I would have preffered at least 192 or higher. However, it's enough for my iPod. Thanks again!

I signed up for this for free when this thread first went up only I never got an email for the mp3s. I just tried to log into the site and see if I can find an account history only it said I never registered. Odd thing is I did and it gave me a confermation when i preordered the mp3s. just wondering if anyone else had to do all this again like me.
best song?
I'm really enjoying the whole album, but I think the first and last songs ("15 Step" and "Videotape") have stuck in my head the most. Great idea by Radiohead - I'm definitely going to pick up the box set for $80. I love this band.
I heard that theyve made more money from this album already than any of their past releases. Pretty impressive for free.
If that is true it's just unbelievable. I really like the new album but Radiohead is getting dangerously close to "it all sound the same" even though it is all awesomeness.

Nevermind. After spending a few weeks with the new CD I think it's brilliant. It is MILES better than Hail to the Thief and ranks up there with The Bends and OK Computer and their best work.

Yes it is far better than HttT, but then again I never really liked that album much. You have to remember that the real cd is 2 discs and this was just to give a sample and see how this process would work. If you want the full album youre still gunna have to buy it.

I've always loved Hail to the Thief. But then again, I'm one that leans towards the Amnesiac/Kid A albums over OK Computer. That said, I've never found a Radiohead album I didn't like (including Thom Yorke's "The Eraser").
