Nintendo Wii HD Cable

I don't believe there is a HD cable (if so, disregard my post). I have however found the component cable (bumps Wii up to 480p) from monoprice.com for insanely cheap.

Monoprice is a wholesale cable one-stop-shop. I am not affiliated with them in anyway, but have purchased vast quantities of cabling (and actually, a few really nice/cheap tv wall mounts) and have absolutely loved the service and prices.

NEVER BUY CABLE OF ANY KIND FROM ANY PLACE OTHER THAN Monoprice.com

I second this cable. It's just as good as the "official" Nintendo one.

Yup. I have this cable. Works great.

Heh, just as my non Nintendo wired ethernet adapter works great.

I got one for $10-12 at Gamestop that connects to the 360, PS3, and Wii. It's served me well for both the Wii and the 360 (don't have a PS3).

Just in case you needed any more support for monoprice, I also picked up my Wii component cables from them and they are great.

Well, my luck stinks. I hooked up these cables and the picture is *insanely* bright. I can't even lower my TVs settings enough to make it acceptable. Any ideas?

Did you change the system settings for your Wii to 480p and widescreen?

Did you change the system settings for your Wii to 480p and widescreen? If your TV doesn't support the high quality settings, the cables won't work correctly.

This is not true. When I first got my cables I was using a SD television and it just made the picture noticeably more clear.

The TV settings were correct. I spoke to monoprice and they are going to send me another cable for free, however after some googling this may be a problem with the Wii on certain TVs. I will update soon.
There is no way the cables could cause that.
Well, if the ground in the cable isn't working properly it might cause an issue, but most likely the Wii is just outputting to much for the TV. I don't know why that would happen, my old cables never did this on my older TV (that I no longer have...)

I don't think this is a cable problem at all. Not sure why you would assume it was and then contact monoprice for new cables. It's 99% likely that the problem is the Wii outputting to the TV.

Because the Wii outputs to the TV perfectly fine with the standard cable, and Monoprice themselves told me they thought it was defective?

For future posts, the TV is a Dynex 42 inch 1080p TV, sold by Bestbuy. I use it for all my other systems via HDMI w/ no problems.
