I stopped by to get some school supplies and was looking at games when I saw that they had stocked Nintendogs already. Probably just at my store, but might be at some others, if you are interested in getting it a day early, you might want to check it out. :p

"Way to go Walmart."?

But I suppose the majority of you just care what the price is, and not where it comes from.

Or the fact that we just want to play it as soon as possible. I'll have to check mine a little later--OP, where are you located?

If nothing else, just price match with CompUSA and get it for the same $24.99 that you would pay at Best Buy with the GGC.

When I was there, I didn't see Advance Wars (I was going to get that one too). But the price is ~$30, pricematch it with either the CompUSA ad or the Fry's ad (which runs until Tuesday - tomorrow). I'm glad that I found it before anyone else though, I was afraid that they'd sell out. :applause:

Aww fuck it, its 1 am and I'm gonna go to Walmart right now. Its my birthday and I want some damn nintendogs!

Edit- Hmm wait a sec, looking at the ad it specifically lists either lab and friends or chihuahua and friends, anyone think you'd have a problem price matching with daschund and friends?

Happy Birthday! Mine too. :)

It was on the shelves an hr ago at my Walmart in Pensacola, FL .. if I hadn't already pre-ordered with the EB deal, I'd have picked one up tonight :)

Im going to BB on Wed to pick up AW:DS and The Chiuauhua version of Nintendogs. I'm going to be at Ozzfest all day tommorow so I won't be able to pick em up. I'm pretty dang excited.

make sure to get there early to see Black Dahlia Murder.

for those of waiting on Best Buy, i was there yesterday, and they had it already, as did shopko when i went into work last night, so id say its safe to say that most stores should have it already, and i would guess advance wars too, cuz we had that as well at shopko (didnt look for it at BB)
Mesquite, TX. There were 5 of each, the Dachshund was hiding behind the Chihuahua. :D Good luck finding it.
Now THAT would make for some weird looking puppies...if he wasn't just 'hiding' back there. :)

Just a question. Not trying to flame or troll or anything, I'm just curious. Why all the hype about Nintendogs? You guys can't wait to get your hands on the new Tamagotchi? Or is there something to it that I haven't heard? I know it got the incredible reviews from Famitsu, but the concept doesn't seem like it would appeal to American gamers at all (Game Informer gave it I think an 8 and 7.75), and I'm stumped as to why it's catching on here. Again, just curious and if anyone has nice, civil replies I'd like to hear them.

Well, I'm one of those "I don't even have a DS, and I'm interested in this game now" people. About a week ago I was shaking my head wondering what the big deal was, but then I actually looked at the demo at Best Buy and was like "Wow". I'm not sure about the actual control, but it looks realistic as hell.

All you need to really know, I think, is that the Sims continues to be a best-seller, and this is probably comparable to a canine Sims.

I was just there for other reasons, but happened to see they had it in already, so I ripped one of those $5 off coupons out of the Gamepro Summer Gaming Guide and grabbed Dachshund and Friends. And you get a $5 gift card with it, so in a way, it's only $20.

You didn't have any trouble combining the coupon and the free gift card?

Just a little. The girl told me it was giving me a $5 gift card instead of $5 off after she scanned the coupon, but I told her I was supposed to get a free gift card and she checked the circular and gave me both. But obviously, YMMV.

I'll check Compusa and Best Buy today then go to Walmart (I hate Walmart, and I hate EB and GS. I also hate BB but it's close to Compusa and they may have it). I have a concert to go to tomorrow (PUFFY AMIYUMI) and I don't really want to head out to the stores beforehand.

Meh, I'm not going to bother then. I was going to maybe try this double dip idea at Best Buy then return my sealed copy at walmart with my receipt but since the system rejects it then I don't feel like going through the hassle of finding a nice cashier.

The Nintendogs phenom and demand is completely lost on me.

I've never been able to get into "non-gaming" games like The Sims, Civilization, Sim City, Pokemon' I know absolutely nothing about and all those other card type games. I tried PSO Episode III since it was PSO. I couldn't stand it past 5 days.

Like a previous poster I wish someone could explain the appeal of a game like Nintendogs. I just don't get it.

It's probably a love it or hate it kind of game, but it does a great job of showing what the DS can do. I hope there are more games like it.

Anything that gets people buying hardware, encouraging creativity in the marketplace (Which I think Nintendogs does do.) and shows that risks can pay off I'm all for. At least it's not another Kirby/Mario/Donkey Kong spin/rip off.

If Katamari Damacy and Nintendogs can make a dent in the U.S. market I'm not giving up hope on this industry becoming all Madden and all GTA.

I loved Animal Crossing, and the Sims, so I suppose this is for me. Of course I got sick of both eventually, but it took over a year and a half for each (with me playing Animal Crossing each day to maintain my town, that's pretty damn incredible).

I also played the demo at EB, and the second I started interacting with the dogs, I knew I had to have it. I can't have a real dog, unfortunately, since much of my mom's side of the family are allergic (yes, I'm still in highschool, hardy har har I'm a young'n  :D ), and I'm too lazy to take care of real pets anyways (well, I have a cat, but cats pretty much self maintain...so Nintencats will suck if it comes out).

I work at walmart in Dayton, Ohio. I personally stocked 4 of each of them today and even made the tags. I thought it was to early to put them out and I checked everything and they were to be put out. So I think this is confirmed in a way.

Well, today is the release date after all. This thread was made to alert people that some Wal-Marts might have been selling it early (as in yesterday, when the thread was made). The game being stocked today isn't surprising or advantageous.

Well, I hated the Sims after a few days (once I had to spend the entire time going to the bathroom, eating, sleeping, or taking out the garbage, the fun was lost), but the difference with this is that those dogs are so damned cute. Not cute enough to get me to spend $150, but almost. If I could have gotten a bundle like this for $99, I might bite.

For those who said there'd be a shortage of the chihuahua version, my Wal-Mart had more of the chihuahua version than any other version

Yeah, I wouldn't get a DS just for Nintendogs either, but for Castlevania, I would.

Civ, the sims, sim city, and pokemon are all some of my all-time favorite games. And Animal Crossing is awesome too. I guess it just appeals to some people more than others. ;)
