They should, but how stupid do you think Nintendo is when they can charge 2300 points over 100. In all seriousness though we should be thankful we are even getting Super Mario games and Mario Kart, instead of complaining about what is and isn't on the system or the costs (because they are fair) because Nintendo could of just scrapped the VC idea at any time.
I don't know about "being thankful" for the VC. I'm glad it's there, but it's also part of what sold me on the system. I prefer a more "customer-directed market" approach, where Nintendo should be thankful that I spend money at the VC store (and MS with XBLA, and Sony with their PSP Downloads).
I understand the frustration of some people who don't care for the VC library thus far. It's not a "home run," per se, and the only VC title I own is Mario 64 (and that purchase was a "I wonder how well the VC works, and here's the one game I'll actually play on it so far" kind of purchase). I think the pricing structure is atrocious for many games, but that's a debate for another thread.
If you turn your head away from the VC for a month, you'll suddenly find 15-20 new games available on it. That's a lot, frankly. However, it's just like software releases in stores: there are stinkers, there are average titles, and then there's that good shit that's worth waiting for. As epobirs said, it's like the 360 BC updates: since gamers are perpetual bitches, they focus on what is absent from the list, and a small minority actually appreciate what's included. Go find the recent 360 BC update thread. MS added Indigo Prophecy, Conker, Shenmue II, and Psychonauts, four games that are pure unadulterated fanboy-motivated actions. And people, instead, began to bitch that Panzer Dragoon Orta or *insert game here* wasn't included.
I'm beginning to think that gamers thrive on misery and grousing, and no matter the obstacles put in front of us (awesome games), we're determined to succeed in our task.
The VC is coming along nicely. If they keep up the pace of releases as they have, then they'll exceed the size of the XBLA library in just a few months. That's no small task, hombres. Is it in Nintendo's best interest to get big name titles to us, like Super Mario All-Stars? Sure, but they'd rather sell you each of the games separately, first. Why? Because this ain't the goddamn Salvation Army and you ain't starvin. That's why.
