No Bin Laden tapes recently?

I'm listening to a radio show that aired about a week before the 2004 election, and they're talking about the Bin Laden tape that was released.

I totally forgot about this! We haven't heard anything else from him since then, and that doesn't seem weird to anybody? That there's a tape released to the media conveniently a week before the election, and then we haven't heard ANYTHING else 6 months later? Osama bin Who? There hasn't been any news about him since then.

The longer it goes, the more it just seems like the administration was just sitting on the tape until the election. Are there more tapes that they're sitting on? Why release the one before the election and not the ones they have now (if they do)? If Osama hasn't said anything since, why?

The whole thing seems odd.

Oh brother.....

The tape was new, he talked about recent events in that tape, so it's not like the tape was hidden and then released just in time.

Plus, Bush already sent up the election so what difference does a tape make?

Maybe he's dead. I can't recall; was the tape right before the election audio only or a videotape? Could it have been a fake? The man is known to have serious illnesses and could have died at any time without it being a big surprise even if he wasn't on the run in remote areas.

Perhaps it's because Bin Laden never really existed at all, he's a republican propiganda tool. But don't worry Emmanuel Goldstein will still free us all.

I doubt they'd show us the tapes even if they were coming in. Now that Bush took the election, they don't need to spread the culture of fear as much. Now if we're reminded of Bin Laden, we might actually wonder why we haven't caught him yet, which would be bad for Bush. Best for him to keep mum on Bin Laden until Bush needs to scare us again.

I'm pretty sure it was video, I remember comments comparing it to the last video which just showed him walking near rocks (but wasn't audio), and saying the voice connected to it, and recent events mentioned, make it likely it was recent.

When Bush's popularity drops some more, you can expect more tapes to suddenly come out. Or the raising of the terror alert color. Then they'll try to ram social security down our throats again.

A very interesting logic, please elaborate.

So whom planned the killing of those some 3,000 people on 9/11, it could have been an unknown figure, or rather a leaderless organization?

I know for a fact that Osama bin Ladin did not have the chemistry and engneering experience and knowledge to plan such an attack.

My belief is that it was planned by the Saudi oil princes, I mean heck, we already know that almost all of the hijackers came from Saudi Arabi.

You know for a fact? Hmm........ think the FBI would like to hear about that one (also like to know why he needs to personally know that info).

Though the saudi princes? Ya know, it doesn't make much sense to attack one of the main purchasers, and you'd think, if they did, they'd do something advantageous (like a texas oil field).

Though I'm pretty certain not all came from saudi arabia, just the majority.

Ive had a great many recomendations for this novel, and im seriously looking into reading it.

I believe that this was careful planning, done over years and years of planning, if it was bin laden, he really did work hard on that, and enough to hide his ass real good afterwards

Bin laden became a national hero in afghanistan for his efforts in the fight to expel the soviet union (which can arguably be considered something good that he did), and that is probably one of the main reasons he is so difficult to catch, his whole history isn't 9/11, we just don't see beyond that.

You should read 1984, it gives a very sinical view on nationalsim.

You should definitely read it. One of the greatest works of literature around.

[quote name='camoor']Besides, we're almost in the 1984 world now. Just vote a few more dems out, kill the "nukear option" and the New Amerika vill be realized!!!

I've seen that site, very nice read. Although I can't agree with you that we are that close to a 1984-type world, I do feel things like the Patriot Act and detention without charge "because Bush says so" have inched us uncomfortably closer to such things.

Yeah, I was engaging in a little parody and hyperbole. But I agree with you completely.
