I have a Creative Zen Micro and my 360 doest seem to recognize it. The option to get music from a portable players is greyed out and I cant select it. Even tho my player turns on and begins charging when I plug it into the 360.

If the 360 wont recognize my player then can I move mp3's off of a thumbdrive to my 360?

I got the itch last night to create some custom soundtracks and quickly gave up when I couldnt get the 360 to play nice with my Zen Micro.

Sorry if this is a repost, I checked the 360 faq thread and didnt see anything about this.

Any help is definitely appreciated.

I have used my 4gb Zen Micro many, many times with my 360 and have never had a problem. Have also hooked my Toshiba Gigabeat S with no issues.

Have you tried using a different USB cable ?

Now what I have had is issues with the connection of the Zen Micro to my computer after using it for a few years. Maybe the issue has something to do with the connection on the Micro.

I have a creative zen v plus and it works fine...But you cant move any music off of anything except maybe a cd. Thumbdrives and Mp3 players no

Make sure that you have the latest firmware on your Zen. I had the same issue a year ago and when I upgraded the firmware, it worked. Though upgrading the firmware cleared the music files in my Zen...you get warned to back up your files because it clears them. Thats what happened a year ago not sure if its still the same. Also, the X360 can only pick up 100 songs from any mp3 player, including the Zune. You can select a playlist or it can randomly select the 100 songs to play.

Just to clarify, the 100 song limit is only during gameplay. If you are using the music player on the dashboard to listen through your surround sound system or such, there is no limit.

Didn't know that...I only use it during gameplay.
It should work with the Zune, right? I have a Zune but I haven't tried it yet.
Yes Zune works on it. If you have a ton of songs, and choose to play all songs, it does take about 3-5min to load them up. Not sure if its just me though, but it seems like it takes forever.

Okay, I'll try the firmware update tonight. I did upgrade the firmware once before, but it was a while ago, prolly before the 360 came out.

So your saying the 360 can play songs during gameplay straight off my mp3 player? Without me moving the songs to the 360's hardrive?

And is a 'playlist' the only way it can play songs other than randomly? I organize and listen to music on my Zen using 'Albums' I dont have any playlists on it. I guess I'll have to create some.

Yes, straight from the MP3 player. There's actually no option to transfer songs to the HDD from the player.

No, you can play albums, playlists, artists, or all songs and if you have more than 100 it will choose only 100 songs to play for the selection you choose.
