Featuring rumble/motion control support, maybe?

Today, Nyko Technologies announced that the Zero line of controllers are coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3. These controllers will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show 2007 in Las Vegas. Zero controllers feature a unique design with backlit buttons and 2.4 GHz wireless technology.
"The Zero for the PlayStation 2 was a hit with gamers and we're extremely excited to bring the line to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360," said Chris Arbogast, marketing manager at Nyko Technologies, Inc. "Next-generation gaming is all about performance and the Zero line of controllers has been built specifically with that in mind. No matter what platform you use, the Zero line of controllers will have you gaming at a higher level."

The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Zero will release in early 2007 for $49.99.
Maybe with this new controler, developers will support rumble in their games in the future?

no, dont buy that Logitech fan controller, that sucked ass

It wasnt wireless, didnt rumble, and hell, there wasnt even a home button,

they should be smacked in the face for making that thing
I think sony needs to quit being a bitch and release a new controller with rumble.
There's already a patent on the rumble and if Sony wants to use it, they gotta pay pretty big, and Sony's already losing enough money as is on the PS3. If it's still true about MS owning part of Immersion, Sony just giving money to MS would not be good. I feel rumble is greatly overrated anyway so I could careless.

Sounds like there is a potential that someone could make a 3rd party controller that is actually better than 1st party. If So that could cost Sony Millions of dollars in lost revenue for the controllers.

Why does your topic title sugest that the controller will have rumble when there is no information to support that? In fact, there's only information to suggest the opposite--including an interview with the Nyko rep at CES (on gametrailers.com) discussing PS3 peripherals. When aske dif any of their products will have rumble, he said that it's impossible, since the PS3 doesn't even send out the signal for rumble.

I don't really care about rumble at this point. I haven't really noticed the rumble missing from the PS2 games I have been playing on my PS3. Guess it really was more of a gimmick than anything.

whatever sony fanboys. i notice right away when there's no rumble. it takes a layer of immersion from the game. gimmick, yeah right.

I don't know, I thought it wasn't going to make a difference, but I'm so used to the tactile feedback that you get in racing games or first-person shooters, that playing without any rumble was very noticeable for me. When rumble is implemented well it really does a great job of letting you know how hard your tires are gripping a corner or when someone is laying into you with a machine gun.

It's not make or break for the PS3, but calling it a gimmick is far from the truth. It's a great way to get a physical feeling back to the player and it is actually useful.

I was going without rumble before it was announced that the PS3 controller would be without it. Personally, I rather have a lightweight controller with motion capabilities, giving me a brand new experience instead of duplicating previous generation experience 100% (but with better graphics).

Yeah, it was good when games implemented it well, but there weren't many games that did. It was usually just shoot a gun and the controller shakes a lot or something of that nature. Very few games I've played used it well enough to help immerse me in the game better. The way most games used it made it appear to be nothing more than just a gimmick.

But I do agree, when used well it was more than a gimmick.

Nah, I'd rather have rumble than the tilt sensor.
Even if I do love how they use it in certain games.

Rumble added things, more than just, shock when getting shot or crashing. (though i love that too)
It enabled the use of various forms of radar without a visual cue, like a "heart sensor" you used before going into a room. If it rumbled, you'd know there was somebody there, etc, etc etc.
Certain games used it intelligently.

I miss it.

:(
