Oblivion Plug-in Hell

CAGiversary!
So I have been going back and forth with Bethesda about this and thought maybe someone here can help. If nothing else it will feel good to vent.

Right before Christmas, my computer got a virus. I spent some time working on it, but eventually decided since I had recent backups it would be easier to format and start over.

A few months later, I finally had time to finish up Oblivion and started to reinstall the game.

I had my oblivion save files, however I apparently at some point accidentally deleted my off plug-ins from the backup drive. O well no big deal. I figured I'd just re-download them. Well this was no problem for the unofficial ones, but the Oblivion download site was temporarily down. I figure I'd just have to wait a little while.

Three months later the site was still down. I had already tried running the game without the plug ins, and my save games just crashed. And having put over 170 hours into the game, I was not going to start over.

So I contacted support and after a little back and forth they very graciously sent me all the plug-ins I had bought. Now here is the problem.
If you remember the Fighter's Stronghold was originally free for the first week, so I never purchased it.

I wrote them back explaining this. I totally understand if they now want to charge me for it. I mean come on it is only $3, even I am not that cheap.
The response:

Unfortunately he(sic) plugins are not currently available for purchase as a download.

So I wrote them back asking how I was suppose to finish my game. There response has been to show them proof I purchased the plug-in. Which I already admitted I had not. But my game won't run without it.

So if anyone wants to help me out I would be appreciative. Otherwise words of support are appreciated too. I am about ready to give up on this and say fuck oblivion and Bethesda too. I am also holding off on buying fallout until there is a DISC with all the DLC on it.

I know some people won't condone it, but all I can say is, Piratebay.

However if you want to rebuy them, I believe all the official plug-ins are on the Nights of the Nine retail disc.

That sucks. I suggest you try what csalzman is saying and get the pack that has all the DLC. If you mod your oblivion you have to be prepared for the game to break at somepoint.

I had a fully modded game with Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and tons others and my rig died and my saved games burnt up on the HDD. Oblivion is a good game for restarting.

I disagree. Oblivion is an EXCELLENT game for restarting! go to www.tesnexus.com. They have so many file for download that you won't even miss the official DLC. Make sure you download the Oblivion Mod Manager first. This will install the mods for you so you, helping reduce the risk of something going wrong.

Another thing. Make sure that the MODS you download are relatively popular and the have plenty of pics. Then read the comments. After all, sucky mods don't get downloaded and have bad comments!

Good luck and have fun.

Kroman: I know about that site. I use obmm, and have used all the mods I want too.
And sorry but, with a backlog of almost 300 games, I have better things to do then restart. Especially after all my time and effort. (175 Hours)

Yeah, I didn't know how much time you had invested in the game. I'd recommend a restart if you haven't been that far into the game, but if you already had everything and played that much, I'd say forget it too. I wouldn't fuck Bethesda, though. They just keep getting better (Daggerfall anyone?).
