what are the current deals for the system and possible some games with it.

i have about $210 to spend, and all deals have to be B&M. i'd also like to get a controller or two also.

thanks ahead of time.

oh yeah, what are some "must have!" games. i'll probably get Halo (one, not 2) as a first game, and planning on getting Fable later down the road.

(i also work at Sears, so i could get a 10% off anything, so that could be my best deal?)

Get the Holiday bundle with NCAA Football 2005 and Top Spin for $149 with your 10% off it should be $135 plus tax.

definately pick up voodoo vince if you like platformers, it should be cheap everywhere and it's actually a very fun game. Other then that one, just the usual suspects, KOTOR, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Shenmue II, Fable, Jet Set Radio Future, the first Buffy game, etc...

At all means you have to pick up KOTOR. You will not regret it at all. Such an awesome game. Chronicles of Riddick is also quite good. Ninja Gaiden is awesome and very difficult/challenging. That game should take you a good time to beat. Are you just looking for good single player games, or more of a party/multiplayer game like Fuzion Frenzy or Kung Foo Chaos?

Ninja Gaiden, Crimson Skies, and Guilty Gear X2 #Reload add some good to anyone's Xbox collection! Big props to Crimson Skies, as I have so much fun playing on XBL with that game...

KOTOR 2 when your done with the 1st. Its great. Also Halo 2 if you decide to get Live. And everything else everyone said.

$219, huh? I'd break it down like this:

XBox System w/ NCAA Football 2005 and Top Spin = $135 (after your discount).

You've already got two solid sports titles, so get one game from every other genre:
(RPG) KOTOR = $19.99
(FPS) Halo = $29.99
(Action) Ninja Gaiden = $29.99 (at Target, not sure if this is the price everywhere else right now).
(Fighter) Guilty Gear X2 #Reload = $19.99

Ok, so that's like $240 already...but you're getting the most for your gaming buck. And Platinum Hits titles like KOTOR can sometimes be found on sale for $14.99 at some places.

You're forgetting that he can use the GGC (if his BB still has em) on some of those games. It dooesn't bring it done by a lot, but still every little bit is worth it.

Ok, is it possible for a mod to make a "best games on the Xbox" thread and sticky it to the top of this section of the forum?

Seems to me we see these "what games are good on Xbox?" threads every few days.

Buy used... You'll stretch your money further. Fable is only $26 used. Any new release on the EB website is $33.74 used if they have it in stock. If you need a dvd kit, go used or 3rd party, much cheaper.

I'd say these are some pretty solid starting titles that aren't too much money anymore:

Crimson Skies
Halo
Ninja Gaiden
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

.. and their sequels. They're all good titles. I noticed a lot of people mention Shenmue II, but I think that game is more of an acquired taste. Don't buy it if you aren't sure what you're getting into because it's not for everyone.

Oh, and if you like western RPG's, get Morrowind GOTY. I spent so much time on that game its unbelievable. Certainly a great value considering price vs the hours you'll get out of it, only $20 new now.

As dafoomie said get Morrowind GOTY or regular Morrowind. Morrowind can be found for aroun $5 while Morrowind GOTY is around $20. Both games will last you a really long time. Panzer Dragoon Orta is my favorite game on the Xbox. Check your Sears to see if they have it. Also at Sears, pick up SC II (if you don't have it for another console). I believe it is only $7.49 there.

Morrowind is good, but only if you're into these huge, non-linear RPG's. 100+ hours on that game is probably a pretty good estimate. If you like RPG's that are a little more directive or you're not into the more exploratory (almost tedious, but I won't go that far) type of game, I would avoid it because most likely you'll get more frustrated than having fun. Then again the first one is 5 bucks used, so you aren't losing out on too much.
