Hey all

Just wondering if anyone's drives ever tend to go full speed that it causes loud vibrations throughout your case?  I am currently ripping a few cd's and some cd's it's nice and quite and other's it's super loud.  Do you think I have the drives not secure enough in the case ?  Suggestions?

I've had that happen many times with my laptop.  It's usually a 50/50 split chance that either the CD itself isn't 100% symmetrical or that it's not sitting in the tray 100% properly (closer to 98%, but just enough to make it sound awful/vibrate)

I'm guessing It has something to do with the massive speed and length of time at which drives tend to spin when ripping.  I don't think it spins as fast when it's just reading it, but I wouldn't know.  I haven't spun a CD to listen to it for well over a decade.  Sometimes I slightly pinch the closed tray to reduce the vibrations.

Note: It never happens with DVDs, only CDs.  Don't blame your computer, blame the media.  Be glad it's only a few minutes to rip and a one-time shot.
