My parents bought a used tv from a garage sale today. It is a sony brand. It is 61 inches. Manufactured in Oct 2002. From the looks of it, I'd say it's pretty decent. It was $200 but my dad bargained it to $150. Aside from that's all I know of the tv, was it a good deal considering it was $150?

well if you didnt have a tv this sounds good to me. sonys are good. size is large.
i'd pay $150 for a tv that size but of course would have no way to move the thing.

sounds like a pretty good deal for that size as long as there isn't anything noticeable wrong with the tv like dead pixels or messed up speakers.

That depends upon how much it was used in those 7 years since it was manufactured. If it was kept on 24/7, it may only have a bit of life left in it and only be worth the $150.

My family bought a 19" SDtv from a Salvation Army for about $20 about 2 years ago and I've been using it downstairs in my families house to watch tv. But now I moved it upstairs and have been using it more regularly and it's been a great investment.

When we first got it, it would make loud noises when I turned it on(sounded like something was hitting the glass screen from behind as it warmed up and would do it sporadically while playing), but it's been great for a while now.

We definitely got our $20 of use out of it, that's for sure.

@IATCG: I have no idea. I will ask my dad and see.

But the pictures aren't so bad. My mom thinks it's a little distorted. But I blame her vision of old age :p.
I'd say this beat our old 42" sony that has messed up colors due from video game use. =/ (how is that even possible?!)

You see those things in the free section of Craigs List all the time. They usually start out asking $1000 dollars for them and eventually they head to the free list. Not a good deal IMO, but if the $150 included delivery and you get some use out of it it's ok.
If he had to shlep it home himself he got screwed.
