Anyone care to actually verify these numbers?

http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2011/03/feed-your-family-on-10-billion-a-day.html

Basically, to pay for the entire 2011 budget, they take all the profits from the entire Fortune 500 lineup, 100% of the wealth of all Billionaires and "almost-billionaires", 100% of the income above $250,000 of all Americans who make more than $250,000, all foreign aid and all money going towards the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - not to mention a whole lot more things - and it still requires $40 from every man, woman and child in America to pay for the 2011 budget.

Sensationalism, yes... but is the math wrong?

Question what do you think about the actual so called fat-cats that earned that money instead of stealing it. Don't get me wrong I don't see why any athlete should be payed 140 million dollars to hit a ball or throw a ball into a bucket. I think they should be paid a decent salary of say 60,000 a year. Average that out over 5 years they get 300,000 dollars not bad living wage in my opinion. Basing pay is dumb. I agree that Walmart should rot for how they treat this world they kill small business and don't contribute crap. The average payout per owner in Walmart I'm talking Sam's kids was 6000 dollars combined each of them earned over 18 million last year while every year the workers out of their own pockets give 2.5 million. Now the reason Bill Gates is so successful is because he actually earned his money he was smart along with Steve Jobs and Steve Wasniak don't know how to spell his last name it may be wrong. Anyways they all built products marketable and used their own knowledge to build their empire. However, Bill Gates every year donates a huge amount of proceeds in earnings to reputable charities he's done this since his wealth. I don't know bout Jobs and the other guys donations but heck another problem with this world overpaid actors. People want to be like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie make all this money for films no man needs to be paid 50 million a film plus dvd sales and earnings on movie tickets. Again, pay them a liveable wage and get done with it. By cutting down on the consumption of ridiculous payouts to these people we could cut the budget by alot. It may not be what we are looking for but would improve mine and your living.
Trust but someone else verify.
Did I present anything here as fact?

I am curious if there's any truth behind these numbers - and since there are so many highly intelligent posters on this forum, I thought I'd ask you for your input on this.

And yet, nothing...
Hint.

Yours alone is the burden of proof.
Except that, if you take the time to actually read what I've posted instead of (again) making up positions for me, you'll notice that I have not made a single claim - and thus have nothing to prove.

I didn't even say "OMG - CHECK THIS OUT - IF IT'S EVEN HALF TRUE, WE'RE ALL SCREWED!!!"
I took a link, posted an summary of it, then asked if the math was correct.

Bias shows in so many ways, I don't try to hide mine, but bob, man just give it up. Just asking "is the math wrong?" shows which way you're going with this. If you'd asked "is the math right?", I wouldn't even be typing this.

What if I had just said "What about the math?"

I question the math simply because the source article is (obviously) very biased and very right-wing. I'm not too interested in the sensationalism of it - I'm just curious if the figures add up or not.

Trolling again I see.

The numbers could be correct if you forget things like inflation/deflation, and the countries ability to print money. It could absolutely be true if you ignore the features of our financial system.

If asking people to read what I post instead of making up crap and attributing it to me with no basis in reality is "trolling" then give me a bridge.

You'll note, I didn't ask if the numbers are correct - I asked about the math.
And printing more money hardly seems like the best answer to fix our currently undervalued dollar... Hell, if that was the answer, then why not just print $14 Trillion in ones and pay off the entire debt tomorrow?

that would have been a more appropriate subject line.

Damn Myke, there's someone at work who's always forwarding me shit like this, and that's usually the subject line.

As always, I can expect nothing but the highest standards of conversation here on CAG Vs. Where the default position, somehow, involves Hitler. Where not liking Obama makes you racist, but not liking Bush is okay because he looks like a monkey anyway. Where only the right resorts to violent actions and those on the left that do are secret plants from the right. Where all the problems in the US can be solved by more intervention from the US Government, but where the US government is so corrupt and horrible because corporations secretly run it from underground bunkers. Where "that guy on the left" is so awesome because he's against capitalism, until it turns out he's bought and paid for as much as any politician on the right... but he's still awesome because he's got a (D) behind his name instead of an (R) and that obviously shows that he's secretly fighting against the evil capitalist while taking their money. Where corporations aren't people, unless we're talking about taxing them or holding them accountable. Where tax cheats are evil, evil people, unless it's us cheating on our taxes or someone Obama wants to promote within his administration. Where it's horrible to exploit illegal immigrants for labor, but we can't put a stop to illegal immigration because we need their cheap labor. Where you get to curse, rant and rave like a mad man, then complain because you can't seem to communicate with others. Yes, the CAG Vs. forum... always a place for open discussion on a variety of topics. As long as those topics can be summarized in "D Good, R Bad."

I'm scanning this very thread for Hitler and the only one who made that reference was you. I'm looking for posts where I said disliking Obama = racist. I'm looking for posts where I condone violence from the left. I'm looking for posts where I say ALL problems can be solved by big govt. I'm looking for a post where I said corporations don't have 1st amendment rights.

Yeah, actually that would have been a better way of putting it. You didn't think about that when you typed it up though, so the way you put it is revealing in how you were thinking at the time. You asked us if the math was wrong, as if the assumption (your assumption) was that it was right.

And wow that's one helluva rant.

Obviously, I believe there's some truth behind what's posted in this article. It would have been a waste of everyone's time for me to post an article that I felt was nothing but BS and lies. IMHO, even if I posted it and said "Is the math right?", I can't imagine many people wouldn't already think that I thought there was some truth behind it

And wow that's one helluva rant.

Not a rant, just an observation of SOP here.
