Is this game worth buying from what ihear its hard to find and ppl want it. I wanna know if ppl want it just because its rare or is it good. A local store has at least 10 copies?

It is VERY addicting, and the story is really good. Check out gamespot.com, or IGN and read the reviews to get an idea of how the game is. I love this game, probably the best RPG to come out in 2007.

It's good, but I'm sure it's not for everyone. You'd have to really LOVE hours upon hours of turn-based combat dungeon crawling, because that's pretty much all you do. Somehow they made that good.

I disagree about the story. In fact, enough to say that the story is pretty much abysmal.

However, the gameplay is top notch and justifies the game purchase.

how does P3 compare to Odin Sphere? also, i remember seeing something in the reviews that complain about how counter-intuitive the different magic spell attack names are, and that it gets confusing trying to choose the proper attack to use, since you can't read attack descriptions once you're in battle mode. how badly does this affect gameplay?

Persona 3's magic is annoying in that the names are (I'm guessing, not really sure) in Japanese, and are therefore kind of hard to memorize. For example, a Fire attack is not called FFire, but rather "Agi". A Light attack is "Hama". Because of the many elements, sometimes it gets difficult to memorize all of the attacks.

Nonetheless, you will eventually memorize them all, so it's not that big of a deal.

Incredibly unique and worth full retail price if you enjoy a good JRPG. The time limit in the game is weird, and at first pissed me off... but it's worth putting up with by how fresh the experience is. Catchy soundtrack too, aside from some offbeat stuff.

From what I remember its the same in Nocturne, so probably all the Shin Megami games.

Perhaps a stupid question, but if I loved (am loving) Paper Mario The Thousand Year door, but found Final Fantasy X insanely dull and was glad when a fatal scratch cropped up on the disk when I was at about the 5:30 mark, would there be any reason I'd like Persona 3? My guess is no, but the game *sounds* intriguing, so I still keep thinking about buying it. Tell me I shouldn't waste the money and I'll be able to rest easy. Or not and I should still seek it out.

That's a tough one. I found Digital Devil Saga to be much more like Final Fantasy X than Persona 3.

Persona 3 has a lot of "day in the life" elements. You spend most of the time in the game going to school, answering questions, dating girls, and hanging out with friends. At night (after you've played for about an hour), you can begin venturing into the dungeon. Boss fights occur on a timed basis as opposed to when you are ready (though there is plenty of time to prepare in between fights).

There really isn't a lot out there that is like this game. It was a very refreshing, new experience as far as RPGs are concerned. I would recommend it. If you do grab a copy and find that you don't really care for it, you can always sell it here on CAG or on Ebay. You shouldn't have any problem making back what you spent.

You can't really compare 100-Year Door with Persona 3, two totally different games. But I agree with thelonepig that it's a great game. I'm working though it and love it, but be warned--it's a massive dungeon crawl, so if that doesn't appeal to you then stay away. The way you build relationships and see the little side-stories unfold with your new friends and aquaintances is VERY addicting though.

When FES comes out will Atlus re-release this game? Because is it'll suck to come out with a add-on when game for it is out of print.

Most likely it would get reprinted on a single disc, but without all of the extras (artbook, soundtrack, etc).

EDIT: Single disc with both P3 and FES.

I found a copy at a Sears and so have decided to take a chance on it. I figure if I end up not liking the game I can probably get back most of what I paid for it. Perhaps more if it really does become uber rare. Thanks for the info, folks.

It's a fully seperate expansion that requires data from Persona 3 to play. A first for US consumers actually.

Another intresting thing about the Shin Megami Series is the names of the spells don't really change much from game to game nor do the enemies weaknesses. Aka jack frost is weak to fire whether you are fighting hin in Devil Summoner, Persona 3, or Nocture.

Made Persona 3 alot easier when I could remember 1/2 the enemies weaknesses at first glance.

If they announce a reprint I'm ditching my sealed copy.

Actually DW Xtreme Legend already did that.
I have decided that I must now own this game. It sucks that it's so rare. Anyone know where I can fetch a (preferably new) copy?
I picked up a copy at Gamestop today. I knew they've had an open 'new' one on the shelf for months, so after hearing its was becoming hard/expensive to find, I decided to pick it up tonight. To my surprise my friend (works there) asked me to put the box back on the shelf cos they had a sealed one in the drawer!

I got sealed P3 with the artbook for about $39 after 10% off coupon and employee discount. Since I put the empty box back on the shelf I assume they still have at least that copy left.

Question tho, is the soundtrack inside with the artbook, or was it a preorder giveaway that I missed out on?

You won't need a soundtrack by the time you're done with the game. You'll have it all committed to memory and wish you didn't.

I thought saved data just added in new modes and stuff? The game from what I understand is playable without ANY data. Unlike Persona 3 FES which cannot be played without save data from P3.

The soundtrack is in a sleeve inside the art book. AFAIK, there is no preorder bonus gift for this game.
