Petition to Namco for Soul Calibur 5

Is Soul Calibur 5 really in danger of not coming out, or is the producer just trying to drum up some free publicity?

If it's the former, petitions are near worthless. Since it takes nothing to "sign", each signature lacks any real value. Sales of the first game tells Namco more about how many people would buy a sequel than any petition will. If the game is projected to make money, they'll make it.

This actually has involvement with Namco, although I dont think this was started by them

Hell no, I don't support this parade of sequels to games going beyond 4,5,6. How about something completely new for a change? I don't recall an original thought from them since Breakdown.

I personally want namco to stop making games. Or atleast completely restructure their games. They havent made or published a good game in a very long time. Soul calibur 3 and 4 werent very good either, they were just mediocre at best like alot of their games.

I used to like them but soon as they put the namco museum collection machine into over drive their quality as a whole has gone down the crapper.

I would rather see them make a whole new series and just end SC. After adding Star Wars into the mix I felt that the series had official jumped the shark.
Time for a new series with new characters.
Yeah, no. I payed $10 for SCIV and I still feel ripped off.
I paid around 40 for it about 2 weeks after release and yes I felt extremely ripped off.

Dead or Alive has always been kinda shitty though. . .I mean, it's fun, but it's about as deep as a puddle.

Still has my favorite tag mode though.

It seems like the series stopped evolving after SC2. SC3 was pretty average and SCIV was just a graphical update and actually felt worse than the previous games.

But I'm guessing SC5 is coming either way and I'm sure they'll gladly charge us $5 to unlock some bonus characters. This petition is definitely a publicity stunt.

SC3 home version was buggy as hell, full of exploitable glitches. Pretty much killed it from being played competitively. SC3 Arcade fixed a ton of it, and was a far better game. Too bad it never saw a home release in that form.

SC4 piled on the just frame moves like mad. I played Setsuka, and most of her shit was worthless ones you stepped online. Oh yeah, did I mention online sucked? And I swear sidesteps were nerfed. I shouldn't get hit with vertical moves or straight charges when I see them coming and try to sidestep.

I just want SC5 to be balanced, fun, great netcode (lol Namco lol), nerf the shit out of or completely remove Hilde since she's broken in 4, don't have any silly guest characters, and get back to SC1/2 style gameplay without such a reliance on just frame moves. Make sidesteps worth a damn again. Also get rid of critical finishes.

That's why I like it though, it's not about memorizing a bunch of button combos. It's about knowing the feel of every character and being able to react to everyone else. But I definitely know why people dont like it.

My biggest problems are basically how it feels. It can be easy to pick up, not deep, but if it feels great then I'm fine with that. That's how OG SC was for me. But I don't care for the way DOA handles staggers or the feeling of impact with moves anymore. I just feel like DOA started out as VF with Tits, and VF is just a better game. I'll play DOA to mess around or play with friends, but I'd never consider it anything more than something to play casually.

I am/was a HUGE, HUMONGOUS, sc 1 +2 fan. I played the living shit out of this two games, both on consoles and at the arcade. I still play SC 2 on GCN/arcade. I've played SC 2 in tournaments is how much I love that game. I've managed to perfect 4 separate characters to the point I know frames, their feel, combos, etc. I think SC 2 was utter perfection. One of the few games I've ever played that just felt perfect, both in terms of construction, but also in fun factor, competitiveness, etc. The SC 2 team really through out all the stops with the making of that game. Then came 3. I was so psyched for that game. I was totally pumped and hyped up for it. Then I played it. I hate myself for purchasing it and supporting the series to where it actually went to 4. 3 was utter shit. They ruined everything that was right with 2. It's like, what wasn't broken, they seemingly managed to break. No, not break, mangle, destroy, outright devastate to the point it didn't feel like any of the Soul games that had come before it. What a shitty game. Cool new character additions and stages, but overall the ruined every character by breaking and toying/playing with their mechanics and how they played. Two main offenders, Ivy and Voldo. Then came 4. I was moderately psyched/pumped for this one and was expecting a return to 2's greatness, a similar feat to what had befallen the Tekken series following Tekken 4 (another shitty Namco title). But no, we got more of the same grubby shit. It was better than 3's abortion of a game, but not by much, and let's be honest here, anything could have been pretty much better than 3. I don't mind the character additions that the Soul series adds, so I didn't mind the Star Wars characters. I thought that each bonus character to SC 2 brought in something extra to the gameplay and were each fun in their own endearing way. Sure Yoda/Vader are cool/fun to play as, but nothing more than as a novelty. Nevertheless, the game is an utter waste and an example of how to continue to ruin a series and run it into the ground. I will not sign this petition until I know the SC 1/2 team is working on this, will have time to complete the title, and it will be worked out prooperly

im with some of you about not caring. sc and teken both are pretty stale as far as fighters go. it all plays and feels the same so if they never make another one i cant care im still waiting for someone to take 3d fighters to the next level.

Since the guy from Namco seems involved in this, I'm going to take it as SC5's official announcement. Hooray!

I enjoyed SC4 even though it did feel mostly like an HD update. I hope the next game ditches all the guest characters (especially the Star Wars stuff, WTF), or at least updates them to have unique movesets and with more cohesive designs. Also please stop nerfing Xianghua. By SC6 she's probably going to be down to blocking and that's it.

And MORE CHARACTER CREATION.

Oh yeah and bring back all the stages from SC2.

I could keep going.

100% agree. It's like they are punishing her for being so damn good in SC1, they just keep making her worse and worse.
