playstation plus free game question

I was wondering what happens to the free games you download from the playstation plus membership. Since you are downloading them to your ps3 once your membership expires you can still play them right? I don't see how they could prohibit you from playing them once the membership expires if they are downloaded on your playstation.

once it expires, you can no longer play any free games. The validation key (or whatever name it has) expires once your subscription expires.

It's in the user agreement -- that free games are only playable as long as your PS+ subscription is active.

All free avatars and themes are yours to keep forever though, and the same goes for anything you pay additional money for, including games at a discount.
