Pop 3

I'm renting it right now. I'm about 4.5 hours into it and thus far it's amazing. I hear it's about 12-15 hours long and has little replay value, so if you don't want to buy it's at least worth a rental.

a return to greatness after Warrior Within.. I loved Sands of Time and this one is just as good.
so if I've never played Sands of Time, and hated Warrior Within, is this a game I'd enjoy?
It depends one what you hated about Warrior Within. If you liked all the platforming, then you'll like this more. If the combat was your main issue with WW, then that stuff is still here, but too a much lesser extent.

The music and writing is a lot better this time aorund though. No Godsmack or heavy guitar. And the game is very linear, which I think works for this type of game, but not everyone does.

I got this game, I couldnt resist and have played through it twice. Best platforming game IMO, plus the speed kills are really cool.

I liked Warrior Within, too. In fact, that's what I'm playing through currently on PS2. I also like the music, 'cause it sounds savage, and raw. Putting you into correct frame of mind for the battle it warns you of with the music. Also helpful, if you're trying to find where you're supposed to go. Although, sometimes even that's not enough. I bought the Sands of Time back when you got Splinter Cell with it free. Although, I should've know something was up about that. I liked Sands of Time until I found out that 80% of the game "didn't really happen" since the Prince rewound time to before the opening of the hourglass. Which is a heckuva lot more than they ever let you do in during any level. That rewound time means that the game was actually only 2 maybe 3 levels long, and all the levels after that was just filler. The prince doesn't even get the girl at the end. You do at the end of Warrior Within, but lose her in the 3rd one. :(

well i got pop: revelations which is basicly warrior within....

i liked sands of time and never got to play warrior within..

i wanna play the new one though

I'm about 10 hours in, and definitely loving it. Although the game is a bit more frustrating (and annoying) than SoT due to the 'Dark Prince' levels. The game also seems a bit more difficult than the first two games - which may be good or bad depending whether you like a game to make you feel stupid. =/
Am I the only one who thinks WW is good?
No, it's just that they tried to homogenize it with most of the other crap that actually sold better than Sands of Time, thereby taking two or three steps back in the quality of the overall game experience. People aren't angry because Warrior Within wasn't good, they're angry because it could have been great.

Are you saying that in a game that's all about turning back time, you didn't see that coming?

Redgopher, I agree with you 100%!

People, we're not saying that WW was "Trigger Man" or anything, but it had levels and gameplay elements that were very promising, but were all squandered on frustrating battles, confusing backtracking, and juvenile "baditude", it was a real let-down, especially after SoT. It stained the memory of the first game, which for many of us was like reading a really great piece of literature... and then then finding its sequel was a picture book drawn in crayons.

The game lacked imagination.

PoP3 is a return to form for the series. It is light years ahead of WW in every imaginable way. It has a great story. Great environments. Great gameplay that I found NOT frustrating (just challenging). That it does not ignore the plot of the second game but still manages to pull the series back into coolness is an amazing achievement.

If you're not the sort of person to repeat games, you can easily beat it in a rental, especially on "easy". I'm glad I own it, personally.

I love WW....I love the combat and the platforming, its like a great balance. Its a game I can see myself replaying in the future. Gah..thats almost a pun :p

I've never played the first game, but am looking to pick it up used...i think I even have it for the PC, game free with my videocard I think, but I'd rather pick up the game used for xbox than go out and buy a decent enough controller to play it on the pc...

You should make yourself a usb adaptor for Xbox controllers. I think all you need is an xbox extension cable, a usb cable, and some electrical tape. I would make one, but I don't have an Xbox (or Xbox controllers).
