CAGiversary!
Why is this even news? Let alone news worthy enough for people to make it a headline worthy article?

By NICOLE WINFIELD, Associated Press Writer

ROME - Pope Benedict XVI condemned same-sex unions as anarchic "pseudo-matrimony" Monday and reaffirmed the Roman Catholic Church's opposition to abortion.

Benedict repeatedly referred to marriage as a union between man and woman in an address to a conference of the Diocese of Rome on the role of the family held at St. John Lateran basilica.

He said matrimony was not just a "casual sociological construction" that changed in certain times in history but rather an institution that had its roots "in the most profound essence of the human being."

Mostly to frame the idiocy of the news media. Anything they can publish, print, post or broadcast to make the church and Christians more anti-PC than they already are they do so with great relish. I'm not Catholic so don't go spewing forth how I'm a religous zealot. I go to church for Christmas and that's about it.

You want to see bias? This is it. Every time the church doesn't moderate the implicit tone is obvious.

Isn't the church making itself Un-PC by ostricizing everyone that doesn't conform to their doctrine? For the media to print "Pope hates homos!" the pope would have to say something against gays... which he did.

I fail to see any bias against the church in that article. They didn't even mention any opposing views.

What the? They're not attacking the church, they're not supporting it. You said it isn't newsworthy, yet you posted it.

Besides, they're stating, directly, a major issue that was spoken by a major world figure. I don't think he's made this statement before while he has been pope.

PAD posted a thread where he said he'd pay to send some.

So PAD's point here is that the media is unfairly biased against the orthodox Catholic viewpoint because it accurately portrays the bigoted views of the catholic church officials.

Brilliant.

The article just made a report on a major church issue, it did not portray it as a "bigoted" view, any interpretation to that effect is done solely by the reader.

Yes, I most certainly offered to pay for razorblades to any Kerry supporter after he lost the election. Of course I said this in OCTOBER, not after the election.

Unfortunately dennis_t was the only one that took me up on my offer.

He's truly missed.

Well its good to see that this Pope really has an ambitious agenda. I think his main focus right now is to not die and just repeat everything John Paul and the rest of the catholic church have said.

Maybe he got a life?

That happened to me when I left for a few months.

I really found that funny, mostly because there really does look like that's the case. He's been invisible in the media since his ascension other than the odd statement or two.

It happens to the best of us.
