Portal Gun mini vs full size customizable replica

gossamer

CAGiversary!
I'm looking for a possible last minute birthday gift and the mini portal gun or the full size customizable gun might be it.  Any opinions on which is better overall?  Is one a higher quality model?  If the full size is on the stand, how tall is it?  I'm looking to order soon, if I decide to.  Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated.

I got the mini one from think geek. It would probably look real nice on a desk or a display piece but looks a little goofy once you hold on to it. Depends on how the person receiving the gift will want to display it.

First off you most likely are NOT going to be able to find a full-size stand at a decent price. They got clearanced out on Amazon a year or so ago for about $15 a piece (I forgot what MSRP was... $50-$60?) but since they (NECA) aren't making anymore they are going for $80-$100+ on the resale market.

I like the mini guns if the person is going to display it on a book shelf or a desk and the larger ones (Chell, Atlus, P-Body, Customizaeable) if they have the space or possibly would use it for Cosplay or costume.

Both would make nice gifts though except the mini gun is about half the cost.

Thanks for the input, but I decided to pass for now.  Without telling him what it would be, my nephew decided he would rather wait for a gift since he knows I tend to get him the best stuff anyways.  Last year it was the Resident Evil T-Virus replica from Hollywood Collectibles.  Plus he thinks his report card is going to be worse than it should be and he knows I stress doing well in school.  I think he wants to make sure he gets his grades up before getting something from me.  So I told him I would "bank" his gift until he is ready for it.
