Just an FYI rather than a deal, but I got a letter today about a possible credit card breach on the Gamestop website. It was a pretty long period of time from August 10, 2016 to February 9, 2017. It only talks about the website, but I made in-store purchases in that time frame too. I assume the letter would have talked about in-store if that were an issue. Sadly, it says that the stolen info could have included name, address, card number, expiration date, and the CVV code! Gamestop isn't supposed to store the CVV, but from the way the letter is worded it sounds like the stuff was possibly stolen as the purchase was made through the website. It almost sounds like if your stuff was just stored in the website and you didn't make a purchase in that time frame that you're ok. I'm calling right now to cancel the card!

I had a 99 dollar iTunes charge on my card. I'm guessing this is what it came from. Used my card in February for a digital game. Never again GS.

 
Got one today. I thought I didn't use any CC/DC until I realized that I used debit a while back on the first month specified in that date-range. Then again, I had the card removed right after I placed my orders in said timeframe. No suspicious/fraudulant charges for me :D

 
I'm gonna head to my local store and see if they know anything about this.  Maybe suspicious individuals have been coming in and looking at credit cards as people use them in the store.

 
I think GameStop and Sony are in a competition to see who can be the most incompetent with their customers payments.

 
Funny how this was reported months ago, yet they only send the letters out now to let people know.

Yeah, and in my case I found out about this a month or two ago the hard way when I started having charges show up in weird places. Was easy to figure out once I got this letter since it was the only purchase I made at GS online during this period.
 
Yup, I just got a Netflix charge on my debit few days ago.  I already contacted my bank and got the charge removed along with new card and pin.  Definitely check your account if you used your card on their website.  I only made 1 order as a GUEST at their website and of course, this is what I get for shopping at Gamestop...

 
Yeah... I got a letter as well. The damage is done, but for future reference with Gamestop (and other retailers in general), you can use ApplePay in the Gamestop app, which is a huge deterrent for stuff like this via payment tokenization.
 
Just last week dealt with Chase fraud alert for multiple charges that showed up. Got this letter too and now I know how it happened :/
 
I got this letter in the mail as well yet hadn't purchased anything from them in over a year using a Credit Card. Haven't had any activity on the card that's unusual though.

 
I got one of these as well, my last order with them was back in December.  3 "new" games that were opened and used with their stickers all over the case.

I'm done with this awful company and I look forward to their inevitable bankruptcy.  No one shits on the customer like they do.

 
A month ago I got an email from my bank telling me it would be issuing a replacement card as a precaution for a credit card I have through it.  The reason was due to a "compromise at an undisclosed merchant".  Got the new card a couple weeks later and that was that.  Then a couple days ago I got this same letter from Gamestop but thought it was another data breach.  That is, until i saw the last four digits of the card indicated on the letter was the same card the bank already replaced.

I'm glad my bank is looking out for me, but wondering why Gamestop took so long to get the message out.

 
I had the same experience as fallenjedi. My bank made me replace my debit card last month because of a possible compromised merchant issue. I'd just ordered some games from Japan and figured they didn't like the international transaction. Had to go to the local bank branch, wait in line, and get a replacement card... nuisance.

Then, I got the Gamestop letter a couple days ago referencing my old debit card number. So, apparently it was Gamestop's fault. Gamestop should have sent these letters as soon as they noticed the issue. Adding an 'apology' coupon would have been nice too.

 
Possible my ass. I got four letters. It happened and they're shitting their britches over there.

I got two of these this week. I couldn't figure out what cards they were or what I bought with them though, since going into my GameStop order history shows me nothing, since they've randomly removed orders I've placed during that time (Of course, a pre-order I never picked up is still sitting on my account, waiting for some reason). In the end I found out that neither card mentioned in the letter exists anymore, but I did discover a couple of orders randomly missing on my account that did take place during that time frame, and that involved other cards I haven't been alerted about, so we'll see what happens. 

fuck, GameStop is useless. They must store our information in a fucking notepad file in plain text. 

 
Thanx for the heads up. Funny the CC I had on file expired last month and already got a new card...Dodged a bullet on that one. 

 
So what's the legal status of shit for Gamestop when things like this happen?

Not a big deal anyways. Just dispute the charge and get a new card.

Unless you used a debit card... which you should never do online anyways.

 
Anyone who used gamestop during that time should definitely cancel those cards. I was just charged 50.70 for a turkey e visa. Im sure its a test charge. All my bestbuy visa checkout orders are tied to that card too. Kinda pissed.

Hmmm, I've never bought with CC from GS.com, but did buy using PayPal over Christmas (Hitman PC Season for $15). Besides changing PP password, should I be worried? Got the letter, too, and my bank had given me a new card with chip anyway months ago. Any tips on how to search six months of bank statements for fraudulent charges?

fuck I just canceled my card and I have a Visa Checkout pre-order with BBY too. That means I'm going to be forced to cancel it, I guess. Damnit, Gamestop.

EDIT: I called them and since it was a pre-order and it was a ways out the CSR was able to change my card # on the order and I'm good to go. No harm done.
