Problems with SNES game saving

CAGiversary!
i just bought a link to the past today and it saved fine twice but on the third time i booted it up my game was gone. so i did some research and found out all about the batteries and how they die and stuff. so my question is, is it hard to replace the battery? or should i have someone else do it? ( i have 0 experience with this stuff)

I've never heard of recharging SNES carts before through the system. I always thought you had to change the battery. But I've never had to do that yet either. :/

There's a sticky thread here about replacing the batteries.

I don't know how hard it is to do since I haven't had to replace the battery for any of my SNES games yet.

The question of the ease of swapping batteries boils down to this: can you solder, or do you want to learn? If you can, battery replacement is easy, as it uses the most rudimentary solder skills.

One thing I would change from that faq is that you can buy batteries from NES/SNES repair places that have the terminal already attached. It costs a couple bucks more but is worth it. Also, you can go to a site like nesrepairship.com and send your cart in, they will swap batteries for you for 8 bucks if I remember correctly.

I think I've seen places cheaper than $8. I'm wracking my brain but I can't remember where it was. I was looking at getting some Gameboy stuff fixed but I never went through with it.

You can find videos on Youtube on how to do it.

I've got a few GB/GBC games that need the batteries replaced but I'm just too lazy to do it since I'm not planning on playing any of those games any time soon.
