PS Move Owners

I went to Gamestop this weekend and had a chance to fool around with Move for a while. Overall I like it a lot but I'm worried about possible space issues, I have about 5 feet (give or take) away from the console to work with and I was wondering if this was enough room.

The display had the two controllers tethered to the console and were probably less than 5 feet away but they had the camera mounted pretty high up and angled down (above the tv). I was thinking of doing something similar to gain some space, I want to mount it high up on the wall pointing diagnally to where I would be standing. This would give me an extra two feet or so because it would be above and behind my tv and stand. Would this work out or do you really need 6 feet plus of open space with the camera facing forward?

The box suggests 2 1/2 feet but everyone I have talked to (including Gamestop) suggests 5-6 feet or more.

I would guess I stand about 6 feet away from the camera when I play. Haven't noticed any problems

My camera doesn't sit directly on top of the TV. It sits on top of the DVD player which is above the TV.

The only game I've played that needed any significant amount of space was Sports Champions and EyePet (with it pointed at the floor).

Most of the other games that I've played don't require much space at all since they use the Move in similar ways as a Wii Remote, but with added precision for aiming or simple movements and only need you to be within the camera's view.

I actually was wondering the exact same thing. I am in a dorm and although my setup is quite awesome, I do not have that much space from the TV to the couch. Can anyone confirm the 2 1/2 feet space allocation working well?

Aside from space issues, how is your room lit? The Move can be very tricky unless the room is extremely bright but evenly lit. Also, are you interested in games like Heavy Rain or Dead Space: Extraction with your Move? It may be noteworthy to consider playing those games with extremely bright lights. Ultimately, I don't consider the Move a wise purchase for me but absolutely understand its appeal to others. I wish I wasn't light sensitive in a jumbled room, and the Move is too high maintenance for me.

I've played it in a dark room with no light except from the TV and not had any issues with it.

I only have about 4-5 feet of room from my tv to my bed and haven't had any problems. Granted, the only games I've played are RE5 and Dead Space Extraction. Not too sure what the poster above me is referring to when he mentions using bright lighting with the move. I've used the move with the lights off in my room without a problem (Actually, I assumed it would be easier for the Eye to track the bright purple ball in the darkness).

exactly.

The games he mentioned (as well as resident evil) require the camera to see the ball on the controller....not your body. Therefore the room does not need to be BRIGHT. I've played all those games in a completely dark room just fine.

AS for the OP...Frisky said it best. Only the sports games seem to need more elbow room

I'm tempted to get the SOCOM 4 "Full Deployment," since you get PS Move, the nunchuck, the gun, and the camera all for $150.

If you bought the $100 Move bundle, you'd still have to buy the nunchuck thing for $30 (not to mention that sharp shooter attachment if you're really interested in it anyway).

The only thing is that I'm not really interested in SOCOM :( I really wish they would have done this for Killzone 3 or some other game.

Just to chime in with all the others, every move game I have played a good number of move games in about 4-5 feet of space and haven't even come close to having any tracking issues. The only games I have found so far to have lighting issues are Eye Pet for touching the pet and The Fight for head tracking during the match. Sports Champion and such I have played in complete darkness (except for the light from the TV) and never had a problem.

Another vote for you being wrong, lol sorry but ya. I have really only played the move games at night with maybe one light on. Works perfect.
