ps2 Games worth watching for

CAGiversary!
Ok....probably getting ready in the next few years here to see ps2 games start to show up in waves at pawn shops, flea markets, etc.

So, what unusual/good games should you be on the lookout for? (in my opinion...) In short, uncommon games that are very good. And no I am not talking about things that were generally sold everywhere and very mainstream (no "where is God of War?" comments needed)...talking things that were either very early on or didn't get a broad distribution so they are tougher to find but worth it....assuming you get them in the $5-$10 range.

Also skipping the generally-accepted-critical darlings-that-did-not-sell category (Ico, Okami, etc.)

List ended up a little longer than I thought it would be..but there are a bazillion games out there.

Black and Bruised: Good mindless boxing game
Contra Shattered Soldier: Hard, but pays off
Cold Winter
Disney Golf
Downhill Domination: one of my all time fav's...the Sled Storm of the PS2
Dropship
Firefighter FD
Freaky Flyers
Gun Griffon Blaze
Heroes of the Pacific
K-1
Kelly Slater Surfer
Metal Arms
Moto GP series
Pirates-Legend of Black Cat
Project Snowblind
Quake III
Ready to Rumble...I still love this game to this day
Red Card
Red Faction
Rogue Trooper
R-type Final
Rumble Racing
Rygar
Secret Weapons over Normandy
Sega Tennis
Serious Sam
Shox
Sky Gunner
Sniper Elite...great game...nothing more satisfying than a long range kill
Splashdown Rides Gone Wild
Technic Beat
Terminator Redemption
The Thing
Tom and Jerry
Tribes
Urban Chaos
Wakeboarding w/Shaun Murrayw
Wipeout Fusion
Zone of Enders Series

I don't know, I worked at a used game store and we often had quite of few copies of some of those games, notably:

Cold Winter
Downhill Domination: one of my all time fav's...the Sled Storm of the PS2
Freaky Flyers
Kelly Slater Surfer
Metal Arms
Red Faction
Splashdown Rides Gone Wild

Terminator Redemption
The Thing
Wakeboarding w/Shaun Murray
Wipeout Fusion
Zone of Enders 1

The highlighted games are ones that we had marked under $5 and still couldn't get rid of them ;)

Just my two cents.

Blah. OP, there isn't one game on your shitty list that I would pay any money for. You know, I don't think I would take half these games for free. I have enough coasters. Why would you spend any amount of your life watching for these turds?

First of all, I would like to add that SkyGunner, R-Type Final, Contra: Shattered Soldier, Wipeout Fusion, and Zone of the Enders are not turds. I would say that SkyGunner might be valuable considering that it is a game published by Atlus and like most of their releases (Disgaea, Ogre Battle, and Shin Megami Tensei games are good examples) they are collectable. Zone of the Enders is not really worth much considering that it is a "Greatest Hits" title, which the only reason is because it came with a Metal Gear Solid 2 demo disc. Red Faction is also a "Greatest Hits" title. Most of the other games can be found at bargin bins for really cheap. From what I read from the boards here and other places, the only true collectable game on your list is Firefighter 18. I can't fault you for trying though OP.

A few comments on some of the games on the list:

-If you're a shmup fan and don't have R-Type Final, get it ASAP.

-Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild is available in a special 3-pack with Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and ATV Offroad Fury 2. It shouldn't be hard to find a used copy on the cheap, so if you're into racers it's well worth checking out.

-I had some trouble getting Rumble Racing, but only because every used copy I came across for a while was in bad shape. But I finally came across a near mint copy at an EB earlier this year. Also worth checking out and maybe you won't have as much trouble finding a copy in good shape as I did.

-I'd say the PS2 version of Freaky Flyers is the most common. The Gamecube version seems to be most uncommon imo and isn't too hard to track down.

-This list also reminded me about Downhill Domination. I have the demo and enjoyed it, and I'm interested in getting the full game. It's pretty easy to track down around here so it's only a matter of time until I do. However, another game on the list I'm interested in, Pirates: Legend of the Black Kat, isn't. However, I'm sure it isn't too scarce and I'll find a copy someday.
