ps2/ps3 mem. card adapter avail. at gamestop

Major warning for any who rely on the PS3 to play their prior gen games:

I booted up my system last night to play some Suikoden V and, due to no fault of my own, found my virtual memory card completely corrupted. Lost all the data on the card.... I highly, highly recommend that you play your games either on the PS2, or you back up your saves onto a flash card as often as possible.

That, and you can't transfer saves that can't normally be transfered from card to card.

I know.... poor Nightmare of Druaga, Culdcept, and Breath of Fire: DQ :(

Yeah, that wasn't entirely clear. Why are some saves unable to be transferred from card to card, and what exactly does that mean when using them on the PS3? Can they not be transferred to flash memory? Can they not be transferred from one virtual card to another?

Transfers are locked by the developers for some games, largely to prevent "cheating" on the part of the player. These saves cannot be moved between memory cards. In the Breath of Fire example, this is done because the game will actually delete your save file if certain in-game conditions are met (I won't spoil it for you), so allowing the player to copy the file would allow them to "cheat" and restore their game to their previous save.

Saves can still be transferred using third-party devices, however, such as Action Replay.
