PS3 and 360 recommendations

Hi, I would like video game recommendations for the PS3 or 360. I just got the backwards compatible PS3 (thanks CAGs for the info), so PS2, PS1, and Xbox games are also possible, but games for the two new systems are prefered.

These will be for a friend, and here are some games to go off of:

Folklore is good and not violent. Not sure if it counts as a JRPG though. There are no random battles or anything. Look into reviews/gameplay videos to see if it's something you might like.
 
Thanks. It can probably be violent. I mean, Viva Pinata is pretty violent and they even wanted to play Bioshock. I'll look into Folklore, thanks.
 
If they are curious about Bioshock, then definitely get them a chance to try that game. It is amazing.

As far as non-violent games go, the Ratchet and Clank series has lots of shooting but is not really very violent and is more light-hearted and humorous. That might be a good one to try as well.
 
I'll second the recommendation of the Ratchet and Clank games.

Also you might want to try Rock Band/Guitar Hero, seeing as the friend likes rhythm games on the DS, which are completely different, but music-based as well.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. They like rock band / guitar hero a lot. They played the first bit of bioshock, but it was too tense of a game. I thought it would be to stressfull for me too but once you get into Bioshock its great. I have Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal, so I'll give that a try. They're really bad with controlling the camera in games. I haven't actually tried that Ratchet game yet. Is the PS3 one a lot better or are they about equal? The PS3 one looks great visually though. I'm excited about the $15 4 hour ratchet game that's coming out at the end of the month. I think Shadow of the Colosus would be too difficult, I watched a friend play and it seemed way too hard for me. It was fun to watch. Thanks again.
 
I'm gonna second Shadow of the Collossus or even ICO if you can find that, both excellent PS2 Games. If u want a current gen game go with Ratchet and Clank for PS3 and maybe an arcade game for XBOX 360 such as the likes of Rez other than Kameo (which right now is the only non violent game I can think of for the 360 that is somewhat specific to that console other than Viva). For both PS3 and 360 you could also think about getting any one of the Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, or the upcoming Lego Batman. Oh and of course lets not forget the #1 non violent genre currently popular right now with current gen console and that would be the music genre, with either Guitar Hero or Rock Band.Now that u make me think of this, there really isn't to many non violent games for the current gen consoles.
