PS3 camping - a family event!

So, I was calling around to various stores to see how they were going to be handling the PS3 launch, and to check on how many units each store was expecting, so I could determine where I wanted to try to secure a unit. I called a local Target (not a super center), and they said they already had some campers out tonight. I needed to go get some stuff from the store anyway, so I ran down there to check it out. On my way down there I glanced over at Circuit City to see if they too had some campers (which they did not). Got to Target, and sure enough, there was a husband/wife combo, with a friend in tow, who were sitting outside of the store. Two tents were pitched right by the front door and everything.

On my way home, I decided to swing by Best Buy as well to see if they had any campers. Lo and behold, there were two large tents (by large, I mean your deluxe 8' tall, week in the wilderness tents). Some lardass dude was sitting behind one of the tents with a grill and some plastic ware, and was enjoying his dinner. As I drove past the tents, I could see the end of the line, and to my complete and utter shock, I saw...

5 kids, who were anywhere from 5 years old to about 12, sitting on lawn chairs. :hot: The dude had recruited his entire family to indulge in his madness! Now, I ask you. What kind of moron would bring his small kids to camp out in a tent for three nights in front of a store, in order to secure a PS3? WTF?!?! Don't these people have any sense at all? Who are these people that don't have jobs, or responsibilites, and can afford to just wait in a line for three days? Armageddon must be near. This is the damndest thing I have seen in a long time.

That registers a pretty solid hit on the retardation scale, but it wouldn't be the damndest thing I've ever seen... unlike this:

We at least 15 people waiting at my Best Buy tonight.... funny thing is that there is nobody at any of the other stores in the area.

a BB near me had 5 kids sitting in chairs all next to each other
the kids were 5-8 years old !!. down the line there were about 4-5 tents that were EMPTY... no adults in site....

Soi guess put up a tent and that "marks" your spot in line... with no telling how many people r part of each tent.
There was about 25-30 people at 10am this morning for a friday 9am launch store.

Thats just crazy to me.

Pretty dumb, but I guess better than leaving them home alone by themselves. Really, if you got kids, you really should've bigger things to worry about than trying to be the first to get a ps3.

they should really limit purchases to 13 and up.
And there is noway in hell im waiting more then 24 hrs for a console launch.

It's cheaper to bring the kids along than hire a babysitter, and since hes spending an entire months salary on the PS3 + Games and accessories every penny counts
