CAGiversary!
Hi, as explained in the title, well my ps3 broke.
Where can i get it repaired for cheap.
Cheapest i found was PSR1 for 110 dollars.

Is there any other place i could mail my ps3?

Is that covered on the warranty when you buy it, plus it depends on how severe the damage was.

How old is it? Mine died over summer, and I shipped it to Sony and they repaired it for free. Mine was almost a year old.

If you are out of warranty, you have to pay $150 to get it fixed. PSR1 it seems you get to save $40 dollars. Better deal. I had to pay $150 when an idiot sold me his PS3 (second-hand) for $300 (also had 4 games, controller, remote control, and HDMI cable). I had to pay the extra $150 because of the out of warranty. If it is in warranty send it to SONY. They will fix it. Remember to back up your saves and other media because they might remove it while repairing it.

Was it the Blu-Ray Drive Diode?

If you can still pay PSN games and use the PS3 as a media center then I would be tempted to just do that. Then I would just buy a slim for the blu-ray and ps3 games.

My 60GB PS3 died in 2007. Got the blu-ray drive failure, as many other folks did with their 60GBs. I was out of warranty and didn't feel like paying Sony $150 to get it fixed - especially since their repair only has a 3 month warranty. I sold mine (this was two years ago) for $200 on half.com. I put that money towards a new 80GB PS3 and spent another $30 on a two year extended warranty at Wal-Mart. That's the route I would take. The current gen consoles (PS3 and 360) are junk. They break. Get a new one with an extended warranty.

I gotta question who was the idiot in this case. Did you buy the PS3 without testing it?

Anyway, if the OP checks the PS3 board there's almost always 2-4 PS3 repair threads up on there and in almost every one they mention a place in my home state of PA.

I don't remember the name of the place offhand, but they're cheaper than $150 from what I remember from the other threads.
