PS3 Downloads Stopping and Not Finishing

Since yesterday I've been trying to download Episode 3 of the Tester. I first tried the HD version, but it would always get stuck at around 540 MB and refuse to continue or finish. I cancelled the download and re-selected it several times but it always did the same thing. Just now I tried the standard definition version of the episode, and it got hung up on the same exact MB as the HD version.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago when trying to get the free download of Battlefield that EA gave out. It would always get stuck at the same position no matter how many times I tried.

Anyone know what the deal is? Small downloads seem to work fine (I was able to get The Simpsons Arcade and FFIV no problem) so I'm not sure what's going on here. It's very frustrating that I'm not able to complete these downloads. I'm letting them download without using the system, so there's no game or movie interference happening.
 
Downloading in the background in the XMB. I just let the PS3 sit and download without playing anything.
 
I thought it might have been a space issue since I'm running low, but the Tester episode is somewhere around 1300 MB and I have around 8,000 MB free.
 
Hm, if it keeps happening, which is essentially proof that its not a PSN problem, I don't know what to say. Maybe try to delete a game or something and make a little more room and try it again, perhaps you have less space then it says?

Sounds like a pretty uncommon problem though.
 
This wouldn't be a sign that the PS3 is crapping out, would it?

Don't think so. If you got the time maybe try transferring your saves onto an external hard drive and reformatting your HDD.
 
OP, I have no idea what the problem is but this used to happen to me. I thought PSN was shit at first but now I don't think its a PSN issue. I got a new PS3 in december (wanted a slim/better hard drive). I've done a lot of downloading on my new PS3, a LOT, and not once have I had the issue. You may need a new PS3, or perhaps its a hard drive issue. Have you ever had a corrupt hard drive and had to reformat?

Not sure what those are. Does that mean the HD is gonna crap out soon?

I've never had any hard drive issue or corrupt message pop up. I tried downloading the Tester episode at a friend's house, and the same thing happened, although it stopped much earlier at around 200 MB. So the problem isn't PSN or my internet connection.
