I just want to know if it would be worth it to track down and pay extra for another backwards compatible PS3, or just better to buy a new one and keep my current one for backwards compatibility. Or even just display it through the component cable and forget about HDMI.
Ok, so for some unknown reason my ps3, an 80gb model that is almost four years old, has decided to stop displaying through HDMI on my lg 42 inch led tv. I know that it is not the tv, because I have been through it all to get it fixed and the verdict from the is that the tv is just to large for the PS3 to communicate with it. They also gave me some crap about it being the fault of it overheating, because the fans weren't working. I took it apart and fixed the fans, but now i'm convinced the fans never worked before and the HDMI output was fine for the last 2 and half years. Ok, so I don't know if that is true, but I do know that the PS3 will display through HDMI on other tv's, so it's not completely broken. Just curious if anyone has any input.
