PS3 to Dell 2007WFP Monitor - Connection Question

I'm planning on purchasing a 60gb PS3 and currently have the following 2 options to connect it to my monitor:

1. HDMI-DVI cable (My monitor has HDCP over DVI)
2. Something like X2VGA2

My question is, if I wanted to go the HDMI-DVI route, is there a spliiter or analogous device that'll let me switch between the output signal from my computer/PS3? I'd hate to have to disconnect my computer DVI output and connect the PS3 output everytime I want to play it.

If instead I go with the X2VGA2, and connect the PS3 to my monitor via VGA, will I be able to watch Bluray movies? As I understand - and my understanding is very limited - bluray's HDCP protected, so would I have to go the HDMI-DVI route to watch movies? Or will they work fine with a component->X2VGA2->VGA connection?

not sure about using VGA with a ps3, i would use the HDMI --> DVI route

for 360 (for anyone interested) go with hdmi, over vga the 360 can only do 720p, which is ok, but if your monitor is capable of 1080p then you have to go hdmi--> dvi

as for having your pc and game system hooked up, there are hdmi switchboxes. I have this one and it works fine:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10110&cs_id=1011001&p_id=2786&seq=1&format=2

i use it with a ps3. so you'll need some cables to do the same thing:

1 hdmi cable to go from PS3 to the switchbox.
2 hdmi --> dvi cables - one to go from pc to switchbox, one to go from switchbox to monitor. and there you go, good cables can be had for around $5 each at monoprice, so for the whole thing you're looking at around $40, not bad.

I think HDCP is a digital thing, so using an analog connection such as component > VGA you will still be able to watch blurays (I know because I used to have a X2vga2 hook up and was able to watch movies).

As for resolution, I had it hooked up to a 2001FP (non widescreen) and was only able to get 720p (could not get 1080p to scale to fit my screen). Not sure of the scaling capability of the 2007WFP, you may or may not be able to get 1080p, but I think honestly at that size of a screen, you wouldn't notice it anyway. 720p will still look awesome on a small monitor.

For the price though you might want to go the hdmi switchbox route that TheShiz described, since getting a x2vga will run you a little more than $80 if you bought from the site.

I have one of those hdmi switches from monoprice. I got my ps3, computer and cable box hooked up to my moniter. It works great. Best and cheapest router to hd if you can't afford a $600 tv.
PS3 via HDMI/DVI cable.
Computer via VGA.

Problem solved.
Dunno about you guys but I ran VGA for awhile on my 2001FP, and I would see ghost double on some window edges and such that are always there. Like parts of the screen were out of focus or something. Switched back to DVI and I don't see it anymore.
