Just curious what I might need out of the box to do this. I bought my son a PS4 (Batman edition) and want to hook it up in the game room which actually has a large CRT TV with multiple generations of systems connected. I'll upgrade that TV to HD at some point, but can't do it before Christmas without raising suspicions. I also have an RF convertor box if needed.

I guess the first question: Is there some type of RF output cable connectors in the box?

What else can I do to get this hooked up quickly on Christmas?

Thanks.

Check it out. Not sure how it will work out.

I'd honestly recommend you just buy a cheap 720p tv or a 1080p tv in the 32-40+ inch range. A 32 inch tv from a quality manufacturer is usually going for $200 bucks or under these days...esp when on sale.

Anytime you convert a video signal from one format to another you can be you'll likely experience some lag (annoying for gaming) and the cost most likely would be close to buying a new tv. Just something to think about.

A computer monitor will provide a much better picture and may have one laying around. All you'd need is an HDMI to DVI cable or adapter. Hopefully the monitor is not too old that it would have problems with HDCP. Audio will have to be handled through the PS4 controller because there is no analog output on the console. An even older monitor with VGA will need an active converter to convert the digital signal into analog. Many cheap converters are available now but are a gamble whether will work with the PS4 or not.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll update how it works later. (And if I go the convertor route, I can always use it with my Retron 5 after I get a new HDTV for the game room.)

I say pick up a TV as soon as you can. You can get TVs as cheap as $150 or so depending on the size of course. A CRT tv should be fine to some extent, but like someone said, it may cause some lag and might look bad.
