PSP Repair

Bought a broken PSP 1001.
I'm pretty the battery is screwed up because it turns on with out the battery in it, and also there is no video but there is sound

Does anyone know where I can get it fixed or if Sony still repairs these. I'm going to buy a new battery to see if that is the issue just in case, but still want to know how I can it repaired.

Ok well the Serial Number has been ripped off so that means Sony won't be repairing the damn thing. Anyone know of a good place with a good pricing where I can get this fixed at?

LCD screen might be shot or the backlight if you're not seeing the image. Battery could also be damaged if it doesn't power on with it, did you try charging it a bit? PM me for details if you want/need help getting it fixed.

This is a slight hijack, but is there a good place to buy replacement parts for cheap?

I have a PSP slim that the screen somehow broke thanks to the power going off during the coldest day of the year and it getting well below zero inside (thankfully the pipes survived, but took some effort to thaw out).

I mostly used it outside at night, so I haven't bothered to fix it. However, since it's finally (though not yet) getting to be decent out at night, it's time to try to fix it. So I guess I need a replacement screen.

Try ebay. They should average around $40ish shipped, some go for $50 but why pay more for the same screen. Make sure to get the Slim's screen as the Fat and 3000 are different from it.

Gotta hijack with a question of my own too... sorry.

I bought a PSP1000 with a missing analog nub on the cheap. I was able to find a set of replacement nubs at gamestop for like $5. Unfortunately, I can't really play any games(outside of Loco Roco) because if you move the stick around too much the nub will just fall off. What's a good way to keep this bad boy in place? I was thinking of just putting a dab of glue in there, but I just wanted to double check first.

Aren't the gamestop ones just 'covers' for the old nubs? You can buy a full replacement analog numb which is pretty cheap, but requires you opening the PSP. You can probably find better replacements of the numb itself outside gamestop. PM me if you need any help.

*EDIT*
Or if there's nothing wrong with the nub itself, just put a tiny dab of glue and see how it fairs.

No it's the full nub part that they sell.. they're quite a bit larger than the original nub so I also thought at first they were covers or something too. Perhaps I'm not using the correct term... by "nub" I mean the little circular part of the analog stick, not the control stick as a whole. This circular nub just snaps onto the stick part. Are you sure I'd have to take the PSP apart just for that?

*EDIT* I just read YOUR edit haha. Okay thanks, yeah I was going to just glue it but I didn't know if that would put my PSP at risk or something. What type of glue should I use?

Use some sort of super-glue would be a good bet. Just put a little drop in the center of the nub where the nub holds onto the actual control stick. Just make sure it doesn't drip anywhere, don't want a glued down analog nub :p
